2024 Recap
While Oregon’s season ended with an ugly quarterfinal loss to eventual national champion Ohio State, its 2024 campaign was still a resounding success. The Ducks went a perfect 13-0 heading into the College Football Playoff, capturing a Big Ten title in their debut season in the conference. They were also one of just two teams to defeat the Buckeyes, doing so earlier in the regular season.
Expectations remain high for Dan Lanning in Year 4, as Oregon has reached the stage where it’s reloading rather than rebuilding. The defense looks solid across the board, and the offense should be able to lean on a strong run game led by transfer running back Makhi Hughes and a top-five offensive line. The passing game presents more uncertainty, but Oregon is once again poised to be among the Big Ten’s elite.
Biggest Strength: A talented defense at all three levels
Oregon enters 2025 with the No. 6-ranked defense in college football, and it is a unit without a clear weakness. The Ducks are one of just five programs to earn spots in PFF’s defensive line, linebacker and secondary rankings, showcasing strength at every level of the defense.
