Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
NFL players, coaches, GMs under most pressure in 2025 season – ESPN
Kevin Patullo, OC, Philadelphia Eagles: There’s no middle ground for recent Eagles offensive coordinators: They’re either getting promoted or getting fired quickly. After two seasons with Doug Pederson in 2016 and 2017, Frank Reich earned a head coaching job with the Colts. That opened the door for Mike Groh, who was fired after two seasons despite not being the team’s primary playcaller. Pederson took over as de facto coordinator and was fired from all of his roles after one more season in charge. (Press Taylor, the pass game coordinator that season, also left the organization.) With Nick Sirianni taking over as coach in 2021, the role has turned over even more quickly. Like Pederson, Sirianni made it to the Super Bowl after two seasons, which earned offensive coordinator Shane Steichen the top job with the Colts. Brian Johnson was promoted and fired after one season in charge of the offense, giving way to Kellen Moore, whose success and Super Bowl win earned him the head coaching job in New Orleans this offseason.
Eagles Rookie Review: Cooper DeJean is already one of, if not THE best, nickel defenders in the NFL – BGN
There are not many good nickel cornerbacks in the NFL because it’s an incredibly tough spot to play. You have to be able to cover the league’s best receivers, deal with inside and outside breaking routes, and play a vital role in the team’s run fit. DeJean is already one of, if not the best, nickel defenders in the NFL. His run defense is already a cheat code in the modern NFL. Who can remember this hit?!
Mailbag: Tiering each Eagles starter compared with other NFL players at their positions – PhillyVoice
Question from @acbreakfast: Thoughts on Terrace Marshall’s camp so far and chances to make the 53? He’s done some nice things so far, but unless he can beat out Jahan Dotson for the WR3 job, I don’t like his chances. When he was released by the Panthers after 2024 training camp, GM Dan Morgan referenced his lack of contributions on special teams (via Schuyler Callihan of SI): I had a few teams call me and ask me about Terrace and obviously, I think the world of Terrace. Not only a great person, but he had a great camp. He did everything that we asked out there. I think those types of cuts, they’re always tough, they’re always challenging. It was right there at the end where we were kind of deciding if we were going to keep him or not. Special teams really comes into play and Terrace hasn’t really been a special teams ace for us and that played a big role in our decision to ultimately release him. I wish him nothing but the best. I think he’s going to do great and I wish him success where he’s at.” We’ll see if he can either prove he can play special teams or be good enough at receiver where it won’t matter if he can’t. But again, presently I’d have him on the outside looking in.
So Far So Good – Iggles Blitz
The Eagles have a couple of backup receivers that are playing well, Danny Gray and Terrace Marshall. The Eagles need better play from the backup receivers. Neither Johnny Wilson or Ainias Smith showed much last season and we haven’t heard much about them so far. Gray and Marshall are more experienced and are likely playing with more urgency since they are running out of chances. It doesn’t matter who stands out. The Eagles just need better play from their backup receivers.
Surviving Camp with Myles Hinton, Part 1: All that running paid off – NBCSP
Myles Hinton spent the summer back in Michigan preparing for his first NFL training camp and stressing about the conditioning test that would greet him upon his return to Philly. After the third exhausting day of practice in the sun, Hinton didn’t even want to think about what this would be like if he wasn’t in great shape. “Oh, I’d be dead,” Hinton said. “For me, I’m a guy that gets out of shape fast. I gotta really stay on top of this thing, so I’m really glad I did what I did. Because if I didn’t, I’d be in deep, deep water.” Hinton, 23, isn’t drowning in camp and that’s because he took the conditioning test seriously. Head coach Nick Sirianni’s parting message for his players was to come back in great shape and the rookie offensive tackle took it seriously. In fact, Hinton stressed about it — “You can ask all my friends, my girlfriend, my family,” he said.
2018 NFL Redraft: Rebuilding the first round based on PFF grades and data – PFF
32. Philadelphia Eagles: EDGE Josh Sweat, Florida State (Round 4, Pick 130). Original Pick: QB Lamar Jackson, Louisville. Back in 2018, the Ravens traded up to the final pick of the draft to grab future multi-MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson. The Eagles selected Sweat in the fourth round, and he has since well outplayed that slot. It took Sweat a little while to find his footing, but he has earned a PFF pass-rush grade above 72.0 in three of the past four seasons.
Browns QB injured, will miss practices, opens opportunities for other 3 QBs – Dawgs By Nature
Everyone thinks they have an idea about how the Cleveland Browns quarterback competition will play out, but many variables could play a role in the next month and a half before the 2025 NFL season starts. The first, but unknown, variable is what the team’s decision makers have decided related to the Browns QB competition. Berea was quiet on Sunday with the Cleveland training camp taking a break before starting up Week 2’s schedule on Monday. Besides WR Cedric Tillman being cleared to practice and QB Shedeur Sanders having a good day, including this highlight, nothing huge stood out from Saturday’s training camp practice in front of fans. Sunday afternoon, however, we learned that QB Kenny Pickett was injured near the end of Saturday’s practice and will miss a few camp days before being reevaluated.
Terry McLaurin: It’s a business, but I never lost sight of the way the fans supported me – Hogs Haven
Terry McLaurin ended his holdout today and reported to training camp. He was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform List for an ankle injury, and will likely remain there until he gets a new contract. He was signing autographs after practice and he briefly spoke to reporters on his way back into team headquarters. Terry acknowledged the fans, and said even though he’s dealing with the business side of the game, he never lost sight of how much support he’s gotten from the fans. He said he tries to give back, not just on the field, but off it as well.
Report: Cowboys OL Rob Jones suffered broken bone in neck, out 2-3 months – Blogging The Boys
To this point in camp Jones, a free agency acquisition by the Cowboys, had been impressing and providing a point of leadership for first-round pick Tyler Booker. That he has to miss time is a big letdown and means, from a where-do-they-go standpoint, the Cowboys are going to have to shore up their depth along the offensive line. All the best to Rob Jones in his recovery.
Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones on fans chanting to pay Micah Parsons: ‘He’s got to want to be paid, too’ – NFL.com
Dallas Cowboys fans in Oxnard, Calif., for training camp chanted “Pay Micah!” at owner Jerry Jones over the weekend as the contract standoff with star pass rusher Micah Parsons continues. Jones admitted he heard the plea from fans, but he dismissed the animosity, recalling that fans were even louder last year during receiver CeeDee Lamb’s standoff. “I heard it light, but not compared to how I heard them say, ‘Pay Lamb [last year],’” Jones said on Sunday, via ESPN. “That was a faint little sound compared to the way they were hollering last year, ‘Pay Lamb.’ … Whoever’s not in, you can count on a few hollering that. But it was a big loud chant last year on Lamb.”
Bryce Ford-Wheaton injury: Apparent torn Achilles for Ford-Wheaton – Big Blue View
Bryce Ford-Wheaton, a key special teams player and backup wide receiver for the New York Giants, was reportedly carted off the field during Sunday’s training camp practice.
Robert Carter Jr. makes the catch of the year on this stunning CFL interception – SB Nation
As a defensive back, Robert Carter Jr. has a certain knack. A knack for making incredible, one-handed interceptions. Carter drew national attention for an interception he made during his collegiate days, during his time at Robert Morris University. In a game against Utah State in August of 2024, Carter made this incredible, one-handed interception near the end of the first half.
