Buccaneers EDGE David Walker will miss the season with a torn ACL
Tampa Bay Buccaneers edge defender David Walker suffered a torn ACL in Friday’s practice and will miss the entire 2025 season, according to the Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud.
Walker, a fourth-round pick out of Central Arkansas in this year’s draft, was showing promise early on in camp. He dominated FCS competition in college, posting elite PFF pass-rushing grades in each of his three seasons at Central Arkansas and generating 37 sacks and 97 total pressures over that span. He also showed that he can hold his own against FBS competition during Senior Bowl week, recording six wins on just eight reps in one-on-one pass-rush drills.
Chris Braswell and Anthony Nelson will be asked to pick up more of the slack behind starters Yaya Diaby and Haason Reddick this season.
Cowboys guard Robert Jones will miss 2-3 months with a neck injury
Dallas Cowboys guard Robert Jones will miss 2-3 months after suffering a broken bone in his neck, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Jones was working with the starting unit during the early portion of camp. He spent the first four years of his career with the Miami Dolphins prior to signing a one-year, $4.75 million deal with the Cowboys in March. He was the starting left guard in Miami last year, playing 1,080 snaps and finishing the year with a 56.1 PFF overall grade.
With Jones out of action, there will be more pressure on rookie first-round pick Tyler Booker to step in and be a day-one starter come September.
Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez suffers apparent leg injury in practice
New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez left Monday’s practice with an apparent leg injury, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
Gonzalez was seen limping off the field under his own power, but the severity of the injury is unknown. The 2023 first-round pick out of Oregon has already established himself as one of the best cover cornerbacks in the league, ranking 11th in PFF coverage grade last season (78.2).
The Patriots placed fifth in PFF’s secondary rankings heading into the season with Gonzalez leading the way, and they are a team on the rise under new head coach Mike Vrabel.
Free agent TE Noah Fant visiting Dolphins on Monday
Free agent tight end Noah Fant is visiting with the Miami Dolphins on Monday, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
The Seattle Seahawks released Fant earlier this month, and since then, the veteran tight end has received interest from multiple teams around the league. The former first-round pick appeared in 14 games last season, catching 48 passes for 500 yards. His PFF receiving grade of 70.2 ranked 20th out of 53 qualifying tight ends.
The Dolphins recently acquired Darren Waller but are still in the market to improve the unit following their trade of Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
