Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
Source: Eagles held focus group in May seeking feedback on ‘the new stadium’ in 2032 – PhillyVoice
“I was quite attentive,” the attendee said of the May focus group. “I was sitting there at the front where the guy was doing his presentation. Emphatically, he said, ‘2032, our lease runs out. Our intent is to build a new stadium.’ There wasn’t a God dang word about renovation. We spent zero time discussing what they could do better at the Linc. Zero. There was not a single question about it.” […] “The simple fact that they did a separate renovation survey absolutely goes against what they said in the focus groups,” the attendee said. “In the focus groups, the messaging was, ‘2032, we’re doing this.’ They didn’t ask a single question about the Linc. They asked stuff like, ‘Do you do tailgating at the current stadium?’ But that was it. They didn’t ask anything about how to fix up the Linc or make it better.” The attendee got into some details about tailgating at “the new stadium,” and what type of stadium it would be (outdoor, dome, etc.), and the cost of personal seat licenses.
Jalen Hurts, the Good King – BGN
“When the same kid tried approaching a particular basketball star in this city, he was royally blown off, and you know who I am referring to. Hurts spoke to him. I know he speaks to numerous kids in the area. You could see that he’s genuinely investing in the area. I will say one thing: I don’t know if I’d suggest to anyone that they shake his hand or hug the man. His hand is like a vice grip. It was like hugging a piece of steel. It’s like bullets could bounce off that guy.” A few years ago, Hurts may not have allowed people to enter his personal sphere like that. Maybe it was seeing a different side of himself that he is allowing the public to see, after seeing his reflection in the Super Bowl LIX trophy through a puff of cigar smoke. Maybe it’s because he is settling into who he is, as a leader, on and off the field, that a new approachable Hurts is surfacing.

‘It’s crazy:’ Understanding just how young the Eagles’ 2025 defense will be – NBCSP
The Eagles had the youngest defense in the NFL last year and finished No. 1 in the NFL in yards allowed and passing yards and won the Super Bowl. So they did the only thing that made sense. They got younger. Depending on the outcome of a couple position battles, the Eagles could have 11 starters 28 or younger, 10 who are 26 or younger and as many as seven who are 24 or younger. All of which is unprecedented in franchise history. The Eagles have never gone through a season without anybody 29 or older starting at least 12 games (or 10 games before 1978). This team’s oldest guaranteed defensive starter is 28-year-old Zack Baun, although 29-year-old Adoree’ Jackson could beat out Kelee Ringo for a starting cornerback spot.
FTN Football Almanac 2025 Preview: Eagles, Chargers, Steelers Tidbits – FTN Fantasy
The Eagles weren’t near the top of the league in any one offensive statistic in 2024. They ranked just 13th in offensive DVOA and 14th in passing DVOA. Even their rushing attack ranked just sixth, despite the presence of Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley. Barkley also didn’t lead our individual stats, ranking fourth in rushing DYAR and 10th in DVOA. But a deeper dive into the data shows just how well each part of Philadelphia’s offense worked together, and how much Barkley was the key to opening things up. Barkley has always been a boom-or-bust rusher, and that continued in 2024, with him stuffed on 17.1% of his rush attempts. But he more than made up for it with explosive runs. Barkley’s 46 runs of 10 or more yards led the league, as did his 1,072 rushing yards on such runs. His presence flipped the math of what is expected from a run game and how the Eagles had previously approached offense. In 2023, a stacked box meant an easy pre-snap call to throw the ball to the outside – and defenses knew it, and could adjust accordingly. Instead. Barkley was still stuffed on 22.6% of runs with a stacked box, but he also averaged 5.7 yards per carry. That mark was 8.1 yards per carry and 43.0% DVOA on those runs in the fourth quarter. That threat – and the near-inevitability of that threat – forced defenses to put an extra body in the box to try to limit Barkley’s lead-leading 3.04 yards before contact, which in turn led the passing game to face the most single-high coverage in football. And Jalen Hurts? He ranked fifth in DVOA facing Cover 1, jumping from a 0.2% DVOA against two-high to a 10.1% mark against single-high. Analytics would advise against giving most running backs massive contract extensions at age 28. Saquon Barkley is not most running backs.

Bowen: Turn the page? Sure, but dwelling on the past isn’t why the last Eagles Super Bowl winners failed – PHLY
The 2024 team that built a 40-6 Super Bowl LIX lead over Kansas City – which had, in fact, won back-to-back Super Bowls, and made it to a third in a row – was the most talented in Eagles history, and in my view, among the most talented teams in the annals of the NFL. You could make a case that it should have been 16-1 in the regular season, instead of 14-3. It averaged 36.25 points per game in the postseason. This Eagles team has a much stronger group of emerging and mid-career stars than the 2018 Eagles had. In calculating how the groups compared, I reached out to someone who should know. Brandon Graham, recently retired, played for the LII and LIX Eagles and authored what remains the most iconic play in the history of the franchise. “I think they’re in great shape,” Graham said. “Their success will come down to how young guys step up in the places where guys left on defense.” With that, let’s all move on.
Sources: At least 100 players face penalty over Super Bowl tix – ESPN
At least 100 players from roughly half of the NFL’s 32 teams face fines and possible suspension for allegedly selling their allotted tickets to this year’s Super Bowl LIX above face value in violation of league policies, sources told ESPN on Friday. Under an agreement between the league and the NFL Players Association, players who violated the rule will be fined 1½ times the face ticket value and lose their allotted tickets to the next two Super Bowls. If they are playing in the game, the players will have the chance to purchase seats. Those who decline the punishment could be suspended by commissioner Roger Goodell, league and union sources with direct knowledge of the situation said.
One of Cleveland’s defensive leaders hangs up the cleats – Dawgs By Nature
The Cleveland Browns were dealt another blow in the linebacker room for 2025, with veteran leader Jordan Hicks announcing his retirement at the age of 33. Hicks missed the first two days of training camp for what the team described as “personal reasons,” and we now know that it was likely due to his contemplation of retirement. Though he only played one season in Cleveland, he was very effective in his 12 starts in 2024. He totaled 78 tackles, 4 TFL, 5 QB hits, 4 pass deflections, and 2 sacks while missing 5 games with nagging elbow, rib, and triceps injuries.

Cowboys training camp: Stock watch after Day 3 – Blogging The Boys
DT Mazi Smith: With reports that Smith is again losing weight and working towards more of 3-tech role, it’s starting to feel like the beginning of the end for the former first-rounder. This is what they tried to do with him as a rookie, which didn’t bear fruit, and then last year they beefed him up to play 1-tech. Now we’re bouncing back the other way, and all of this indecision means a lack of continuity and a harder time developing. Granted, this is a new defensive coaching staff. Maybe they have a better vision for what to do with Smith once he makes the transition. But with Osa Odighizuwa already your primary pass-rushing DT and Solomon Thomas now here as his backup, you have to wonder how many snaps Smith can even get in this role to prove his value.
Giants training camp: Brian Burns, Wan’Dale Robinson collision gives Day 3 injury scare – Big Blue View
The New York Giants had their first injury camp of training camp on Friday when wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson and edge defender Brian Burns left practice after a scary-looking collision. No word as of yet on either player. Robinson walked off the field with assistance from the Giants training staff. Burns walked slowly off with trainers, but under his own power. The play occurred with tight end Greg Dulcich running upfield after catching a Russell Wilson pass. Burns, headed in one direction, tried to strip the ball from Dulcich and hurtled by off balance. Robinson, headed in the other direction, collided with Burns and the two landed in a heap on the Quest Diagnostics Training Center practice field. Both are critical players for the Giants. Robinson, the team’s slot receiver, caught 93 passes in 2024. Burns had 8.5 sacks in Year 1 of his five-year, $141.5 million contract with the Giants after being acquired from the Carolina Panthers in a trade.
