The Giants reward their star defensive tackle
New York Giants have negotiated a contract bump with star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting that the Giants are giving Lawrence $3 million in new incentives, on top of his $17 million salary for 2025.

He’s currently entering the third year of the four-year, $90 million contract he signed back in May of 2023. That contract made him the third-highest paid defensive tackle in the NFL at the time, but he’s since been passed by a bunch of players and is only the 10th-highest paid player at his position.
Considering Lawrence is also one of the two best defensive tackles in the NFL, that’s quite a deal for the Giants. But it’s also causing some speculation about his contract, which he was asked about on the first day of camp.
“I do what I do. It is going to take care of itself. I mean right now I just want to win,” Lawrence said. “I know if I do that and I keep being who I know I am, it is all going to take care of itself and that’s all I can do.”
This seems like the first step to it “taking care of itself,” as he put it.
We’ll see if the new money could be a placeholder to reward Lawrence while he and the Giants work on a larger extension over the coming weeks and months. He’s the Giants’ best player and an absolute difference maker on the field, so this is money spectacularly well spent.
