Dolphins fear torn ACL for Artie Burns following first training camp practice.
Fans have been clamoring for the Miami Dolphins to sign a cornerback to bolster their thin secondary since before the team shipped Jalen Ramsey to Pittsburgh in a trade a few weeks ago. After a season-ending knee injury to a veteran member of Miami’s secondary during the team’s first practice of training camp today, those pleas may have just gotten louder.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, 30-year-old cornerback Artie Burns is feared to have torn his ACL during the Dolphins’ practice in Miami Gardens, Florida today.

The injury apparently happened during warm-ups when Burns and undrafted rookie defensive back BJ Adams became entangled while backpedaling according to multiple media members in attendance.
Dolphins CB Artie Burns was spotted leaving practice on crutches. He appeared to get injured early in practice making contact with fellow CB BJ Adams, who also was banged up.

The Dolphins reportedly remain in contact with free agent cornerback Rasul Douglas — most recently of the Buffalo Bills. The soon-to-be 31-year-old has been linked to Miami since he visited the team on a free agent trip earlier this March, yet no deal has been struck as of this writing. With the Burns injury likely to keep the veteran sidelined for the entire 2025 campaign, interest in Douglas may once again be reignited from the Dolphins’ side.
