Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
Ranking 2025 NFL rosters: Best projected starting lineups – ESPN+
2) PHILADELPHIA EAGLES. Biggest strength: Offensive tackle. The defending champs have many strengths, but it’s tough to beat arguably the league’s top tackle duo, with Jordan Mailata manning the left side and Lane Johnson on the right. Mailata ranked among the top tackles in PFF grade, pass block win rate and run block win rate in both 2023 and 2024. Johnson is 35 years old but hasn’t lost a step, ranking top 10 among tackles in pass and run block win rate last season. Biggest weakness: Edge rusher. Josh Sweat (free agency), Brandon Graham (retirement) and Bryce Huff (trade) are all gone, leaving Nolan Smith Jr. as the only established player on the depth chart. Smith is likely to be joined in the starting lineup by 2024 third-rounder Jalyx Hunt, who was a solid backup as a rookie. Offseason additions/journeymen Azeez Ojulari and Joshua Uche will compete for work. […] Nonstarter to know: Cornerback Kelee Ringo. Ringo hasn’t gotten on the field much since the Eagles took him in the fourth round of the 2023 draft. He played only 10 snaps or more in three games last season. But he has shown promise in limited playing time, with above-average coverage DVOA in both seasons. He has got the physical tools at 6-foot-2 with 4.36 speed, but he’s inconsistent. If veteran Adoree’ Jackson falters, Ringo could earn the starting spot, replacing Darius Slay.
Eagles officially announce front office changes – BGN
The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced multiple front office changes on Monday afternoon. Here’s an overview with thoughts to follow.
Top 10 things I want to watch at Eagles training camp 2025 – NBCSP
1. The safety competition There are plenty of quality competitions that will take place over the next few weeks but the one I’m most looking forward to watching is at safety, where the Eagles will try to replace C.J. Gardner-Johnson. According to defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, there are three candidates for the starting job next to Reed Blankenship: Sydney Brown, Drew Mukuba and Tristin McCollum. While everyone knew Brown and Mukuba were competing, Fangio let it be known that McCollum has a shot too. During spring practices, the Eagles rotated a ton at the safety positions. If that continues during training camp, Fangio will get a good look at plenty of different combinations. Even though Fangio included McCollum, it seems more likely that this competition will come down to Brown vs. Mukuba. Brown has the edge in experience but most of his NFL experience came in 2023 before Fangio was the DC. Mukuba is a second-round pick who was already getting first-team reps this spring. The fun part about this competition is the individual players. Both Brown and Mukuba have different but very fun play styles. Brown is a huge safety with great speed and he plays with an aggression and hair-on-fire style that will be exciting to watch. And Mukuba proved himself to be a ballhawk last year at Texas. While he might be undersized, Mukuba doesn’t play that way.
2025 NFL QB Rankings – Stats vs. Film – Underdog Network
7. Jalen Hurts: We just entered the prime of his career, just in case you missed his Super Bowl MVP outing. While not nearly as fast as others above him, Hurts is still a cheat code in the rushing department. He was 4th in EPA added on runs, including a signature +23.0 EPA added on QB sneaks which was 2.4 times more than the 3rd-best QB and easily the most in the NFL. Beyond the sneak, Hurts plays with power at the marker and Tier 2 speed out in space, as evidenced by this 48-yard TD on a counter run where he out runs the initial linebacker and sheds off a DT. The rest of his game has rounded out after some brutal stretches against the blitz. More reps against those looks has helped calm him down, and when he knows what an opposing defense is in, Hurts is damn good. His accuracy is the underrated part of his skillset, as he’s the leader in completion percentage over expected (+6.5%) since 2022, and he has the arm strength to win over the top. His jump ball throws are extremely catchable because they come with ideal loft and always in bounds. The Eagles downfield success can’t only be attributed to A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and that elite OL. Hurts can sling it, now.
Jim Schwartz – 2016-2020. The Eagles ran the 3-4 under Chip Kelly. I was thrilled when Schwartz was hired in 2016 and brought the 4-3 back to town. This was a better fit for Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham and the other DL. It helped that Schwartz was a veteran DC with a proven track record. He had multiple Top 10 defenses with the Titans. The Lions defense improved under Schwartz. He was DC for one year in Buffalo and they were 4th in points and yards allowed. This was the guy the Eagles needed after three tough years with Bill Davis running the show. Schwartz improved the Eagles defense right away in 2016. They went from 30th in yards allowed all the way up to 13th. In 2017 the defense finished 4th overall in points and yards. You may also recall the Eagles won Super Bowl LII. They gave up 613 yards and 33 points in the game, but made just enough plays to win the game. BG’s strip sack is arguably the greatest play in Eagles history. Schematically Schwartz wasn’t all that complicated. He was old school and believed in stopping the run. He wanted his rushers to be able to attack. His coverages weren’t complicated and the pass defense was vulnerable at times. Some fans don’t appreciate how good of a job Schwartz did.
Spadaro: What is Nick Sirianni’s message as Training Camp begins? – PE.com
The Super Bowl LIX Championship Ring is safely tucked away for Nick Sirianni as he enters the NovaCare Complex in the early morning hours, his focus only on the day ahead. What his Philadelphia Eagles accomplished in the 2024 season was truly special – 18 victories, including 16 wins in their final 17 games, the last of which was a 40-22 domination of the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX – but that thought is far from top of mind for the fifth-year leader. Winning the day in the manner he wants – tough, detailed, together – is all that matters for Sirianni as the Eagles begin the climb in the 2025 campaign. It’s on, with all of the focus in front of the team and one goal for all: Winning. Just winning. Sustaining the success. Taking it a step beyond. Dawg Mentality. “I remember one coach compared it to, like, playing pickup basketball. You don’t play a pickup basketball game, win a pickup basketball game, and go, ‘Alright, I’m satisfied.’ No, you’re like, ‘Run that (expletive) back. Let’s play again.’ And like, that’s in your DNA,” Sirianni said. “And I don’t know, I think that that’s just something in your DNA that you don’t turn off, that you’re satisfied after you win, it’s in your DNA to say, ‘Run it back. Let’s play again. Let’s play again.’ And it’s just not something that turns off.”
Does Joe Whitt Jr. have enough pieces to put his stamp on the Commanders defense? – Hogs Haven
The defense had their bright moments throughout the season. In the passing game, Washington went 9-1 when they held opponents under 200 yards passing. Alternatively, their biggest headache throughout the season was defending the run, and their yards allowed per game do not accurately reflect their shortcomings in controlling the line of scrimmage in most games. In the 20 games that Washington played last season, the Commanders held opponents under 90 yards rushing just twice. In their division, where Washington played the Philadelphia Eagles three times, they allowed 228, 211, and 229 yards rushing, respectively. The Commanders made good choices by bringing in defensive help with Javon Kinlaw, Deatrich Wise Jr., and Eddie Goldman during the free agency period to help improve their rush defense, which ranked 31st in explosive run rate allowed and 25th in negative run rate forced, per Sharp Football Analysis. Second-year linebacker Jordan Magee should also help in the box, but given the defense’s repeated failures against the run, it was an off-season priority.
The Dallas Cowboys are in Oxnard, California, which means they kicked off their first training camp of the Brian Schottenheimer era on Monday. While there’s a new coaching staff, it was the same old talking points at the kickoff press conference, with Jerry Jones fielding multiple questions about yet another superstar player whose contract negotiations are still ongoing after months of anticipation. This time, though, Jones was specifically pressed by multiple reporters in attendance for his willingness to take his time on negotiations with players like Micah Parsons. At one point, he left everyone speechless when he implied regret for being aggressive in his early extensions for Trevon Diggs and Terence Steele. Then, Jones elaborated a bit on his philosophy of dragging out contract extension talks, and the ramifications of it were the most alarming part of anything said on Monday.
Despite improvements, ESPN still has no love for New York Giants’ roster – Big Blue View
I’m just going to say it: If the Giants get a similar level of play from their offensive line in 2025 as they did prior to Andrew Thomas’ injury in 2024, and that is their greatest weakness, their roster is much better than 27th in the NFL. The Giants’ offensive line simply was not the problem with the team to start the year. They were league-average in pass protection, and their run blocking improved as their chemistry developed over the course of the year. And frankly, I am expecting level of play as their baseline, with a realistic case for improvement.
NFL quarterbacks in DND alignment chart for neutral, lawful, and evil – SB Nation
What’s really in is charting QBs based on their Dungeons and Dragons alignment! We did this exercise last year, but for those that are new, here’s a brief explanation: alignment in Dungeons and Dragons is the code for how your character acts. If you make a character that’s lawful good, they’ll be your typical example of a heroic character, choosing the good in the world every time and believing in the good of everyone involved. Popular examples are Captain America and Ned Stark from Game of Thrones. However, there’s also the chaotic evil, who wants to see the world burn and aren’t afraid to take lives to do it. The Joker is the perfect example here. So, how does this relate to NFL quarterbacking? Well, we’re going to put QBs in these buckets based on a few categories.
26 NFL teams report for training camp on Tuesday – NFL.com
The bulk of clubs reporting Tuesday signals a roaring start as we speed toward the 2025 season. Most practices will begin Wednesday as teams gear up for the preseason next month. Clubs start in shorts and shells as players ramp up their workload, but not long now, teams will be able to put on helmets and pads and get after the real work. Jobs are won and lost over the next several weeks. The 2025 campaign is on the way. Get ready.
