Where Dolphins Fans Rank Tua Tagovailoa Vs ESPN

Where Dolphins Fans Rank Tua Tagovailoa Vs ESPN

Last week, our own Marek Brave posted a story about Tua being ranked in the bottom half of the league at 17th best overall QB. The story covered ESPN’s rankings of the NFL’s starting quarterbacks. With ESPN having Tua ranked in the bottom half of the league, I asked the following question:

Do you think that ESPN’s ranking of Tua Tagovailoa is just about right, too low, or too high, and why?

Below are some of your thoughts and answers-

He is one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in the NFL. Clearly currently in the top 3 at minimum. Anybody who can’t see that after all he has done in his career is quite frankly coocoo for cocoa puffs

herbert pollack feels like he fell to the exact right spot on the list.

As in Goldilocks and the 3 bears……just right.

Phin is the Word is eager for another kind of poll.

It’s about right. Now if they ranked QBs by the amount of time they spend trying on different hairstyles, he’s in the Top 3 discussion without question.

Bill Moody believes it’s too low, as he’s closer to a top-ten guy.

Too Low IMO. When he’s on his game he could fall anywhere from 7th to as low as 12th. I think his issues with concussions (and thus a questionmark on his availability) is what has him ranked lower in other lists. Also their inability to win against better teams; although, I think this narrative changes this season since we finally face some of those teams at home instead of away.

HunztheMighty likes a guy with good character and believes that he could win the big game with the right team around him.

I think he is a very good QB that has some holes in his game. He is also a young man with alot of character and for me that is huge. I cant stand cheering on people who’s personal lives are repugnant

I think he has the potential to win a superbowl with the right tools around him. Thats all I can ask of my QB. Not all teams have this luxury. When the dolphins play I think there is a chance even when we are down by a score or two. It hasnt been that way for a number of years.

Is he the best in the league, probably not overall, but in some aspects of his game there arent alot of guys playing that can do some of the things he does. I will also say that he seems to have a huge heart and loves the game, not all players do and I think that translates to wins on the field.

Yarganaught hopes that he takes the lower ranking as motivation going forward.

Personally, I don’t care. Objectively speaking, sure he had a down season due to him being injured. One could argue that they were more self-inflicted than anything associated with a breakdown in team performance. He is a NFL starting QB. He has a responsibility to take care of his body and mind. Both on the field and off. That said, it impacted his ranking. I get it… and I hope he gets it too. I hope he read that ranking and got pissed off about it. As much at the ESPN author and the people who voted him so low… as much as he is at himself for allowing his Napoleonic ego to encourage him to do stupid things on the field that got him injured.

Tua if you read this page, stop playing stupid games, because you are only winning stupid prizes.

phinsatx says it either goes right or wrong from here. Safe bet!

The league has always been a what have you done for me lately and it wasn’t great last year. Ideally, the team will run more this year and the play actions will make Tua shine. Or they suck and everybody gets fired.

JUK believes that he will get back into the top ten next year if he stays healthy and the rest of the offense does their jobs.

As an assessment of his on field contribution last year it’s about right. On talent he’s clearly higher. If 1) he can stay healthy and 2) he can finally get average or better O line play for a season, he’ll be top 10 in next year’s list

StanleyDoyle1 sees these sorts of rankings as more of a popularity contest than anything else.

These rankings are like ranking the cool-kids table in middle school. Let’s see – Jayden Daniels has a GOOD year, and suddenly he’s the second coming of.. Mac Jones. Jalen Hurts is surrounded by the best team in football, so that makes him… Trent Dilfer. Jordan Love & CJ Stroud haven’t put together 8 straight good games, much less seasons, but hey it’s more interesting to write about them.

Let’s face what this is really about- the Dolphins and their players are not a new story anymore. Old news, nothing new to see here. Just the same leading-the-league in passing, yards, and completion percentage. What used to count as objective criteria. So if Tua leads the league in touchdowns next year, there will be some other reason for a guy with a beer gut sitting behind his desk to neg him. That’s what this is.

PA phinphan says rankings don’t matter, production/winning does.

I really don’t care where he is ranked. He could be ranked #1 or #32. It doesn’t matter. I only care if he leads my favorite team to the promise land and wins. I would love to say he has more super bowl wins than Dan the Man but for now he doesn’t.

That’s our ten for this evening. Some of our base clearly believes that the lower ranking is fair, while others think that factors like injuries have caused him to be rated lower than he otherwise would be. There are also those who don’t believe he’s got it at all and wish he wasn’t even there to be ranked. As always, thank you to each of you who took the time to read and respond to our PQOTD post.
