Random Ramsdom: Team has options on the defensive line

Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 7/21/25

The Los Angeles Rams have options when it comes to how their defensive line will look this year, and I think what’s potentially exciting is, yes, they’ll need to figure out the actual roster, but also even after the roster is more or less set, this team may still be able to use different packages and different groupings of their defensive lineman.

As I think of it, the Rams typically under Sean McVay seem to have a number of options for their defensive line, but this group has starter talent, rotational talent and depth. Even without Aaron Donald, this could be one of the better defensive fronts McVay has had, but then again McVay has had some stacked defensive fronts before, so maybe I am reaching.

Either way, happy Monday, I am off today so I’ll try and see you in the comments, in the meantime, thanks for checking out Turf Show Times and have a great day!

Rams training camp preview: How many defensive linemen will LA keep? (ramswire)

“The Los Angeles Rams have developed one of the NFL’s best young defensive lines. They already had Braden Fiske and Kobie Turner, two Defensive Rookie of the Year candidates the last two seasons, and then they added nose tackle Poona Ford in free agency to round out the group.

Beyond those three starters, though, there are some spots still up for grabs. Training camp will help sort out the depth chart with some positional battles up front, which will make the coming weeks exciting to watch.

Here’s a look at the D-line heading into camp.”

Several Players Enter Rams Training Camp With Unknown Futures (si.com)

“Impending unrestricted free agents include a large portion of the starting lineups on both offense and defense.

Offensively, running back Kyren Williams, right tackle Rob Havenstein and tight end Tyler Higbee are not under contract for 2026. Neither are slot receiver Tutu Atwell, backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo or left tackle D.J. Humphries, the player who’ll likely start as Matthew Stafford’s blindside protector in place of Alaric Jackson, who is sidelined with blood clots.

On defense, cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon, linebackers Troy Reeder and Nate Landman, and defensive backs Quentin Lake and Kam Curl also enter contract years. So do cornerbacks Cobie Durant and Derion Kendrick.”

Three Players Whose Play Could Positively Impact the Rams’ Trajectory (si.com)

“Probably the most obvious inclusion on this list, Adams is believed to be the key between success and total failure. Adams was not only brought in to replace a diminished Cooper Kupp, he was brought in to erase the plagues of the post-Super Bowl Rams.

One of the biggest plagues is a slow early-season start. In 2022, they suffered and never recovered. In 2023, they suffered and rallied behind Kyren Williams to make the playoffs. In 2024, they suffered and rallied behind Puka Nacua to win the NFC West.

And what happens? The Rams suffer and lose steam towards the end of the postseason, allowing them to lose heartbreaking playoff games. How do you counter that?”
