The Rams signed a familiar name for depth at quarterback
With training camp just around the corner, the Los Angeles Rams added depth to the quarterback position and signed a familiar player back to the roster just in time to join Matthew Stafford’s room. The Rams signed Dresser Winn on Monday, bringing L.A.’s total number of quarterbacks to four just before the start of camp.
Winn joins Stafford, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Stetson Bennett on the Rams depth chart for 2025 training camp.

This will be Winn’s third time with the Rams. He was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2023 after a six-year career at UT-Martin. After not making the roster in 2023, Winn spent time in the CFL, but never dressed for a game and was signed to L.A.’s practice squad shortly thereafter.
Winn would again return for a short stint in 2024 but again failed to make the roster or practice squad out of camp. Last year, Winn played for the Memphis Showboats in the UFL.
We already know that Stafford won’t play in the preseason and if Sean McVay’s history with key backups hold true, neither will Jimmy Garoppolo. So it is likely that Winn’s signing is insurance to have a quarterback who will replace Bennett if and when McVay needs to pull him from a preseason game. There is little chance that this will be the year that Winn earns a spot on the 53-man roster, but perhaps getting his feet wet in the UFL will help him make the practice squad.
