Will the Cincinnati Bengals get a deal done with Trey Hendrickson?
The Bengals owner sure thinks so.
During Monday’s pre-training camp luncheon, team owner Mike Brown said he believes a contract extension will get done with Hendrickson.
“I think it’ll get done,” Brown told reporters, later adding, “We never have an easy time (on negotiations with Hendrickson), but it always gets done.”
As for director of player personnel Duke Tobin, he believes Hendrickson should be here since he’s under contract and is also hopeful of getting a new deal done.
It was reported earlier Monday that the Bengals sent out a new contract offer to Hendrickson, but it doesn’t sound like anything is close to getting done.
With training camp opening Wednesday, it looks like Hendrickson is ready for an extended holdout that could lead to him missing most, if not all of training camp and the preseason. He’s previously said he won’t play under his current deal, but at his age — he’s currently 30 and turns 31 in December — the Bengals are reluctant to give him a long-term extension.
