There’s no denying that Chase is the best wide receiver in the NFL. Could he actually be better than he already is?
Ja’Marr Chase is coming off one of the best seasons by a wide receiver in the history of the NFL, becoming just the sixth wide receiver since the AFL/NFL Merger in 1970 to win the receiving triple crown.
Now, NFL coaches, executives and scouts are concurring with Bengals fans’ beliefs that Chase is the best wide receiver in the NFL. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler polled these NFL personnel and ranked the Bengals superstar as the best NFL wide receiver.
“Honestly, it comes down to Chase is a b— to cover,” an NFL personnel executive told Fowler. “We are super aware of him and have played him a bunch and been torched by him a bunch.”
Here’s what’s amazing about Chase’s record-setting season in 2024. He had 72 receptions, 991 yards, and 10 touchdowns in his last eight games. If you average those numbers across a 17-game season, that’s 153 receptions, 2,106 yards, and 21 touchdowns. Honestly, it’s not out of the question for Chase to put up those numbers in 2025.
Fowler writes on Chase that “The Bengals feel he’s still refining his game, with improvements in defensive scheme recognition, attack plans based on coverages and creative route running with different speeds or stems.”
Okay, then.
Chase’s 787 yards after the catch last season were 190 more than the next-closest player, one of many statistics that garnered him more than 70 percent of first-place votes in Fowler’s poll.
