Raiders fans not loving idea of a Terry McLaurin trade

There has been speculation Las Vegas could make big move

If the sticky situation between the Washington Commanders and star wide receiver Terry McLaurin gets to the point where the two sides part ways, most Las Vegas Raiders fans hope the team doesn’t get involved.

Recently, Fox Sports floated the Raiders as a perfect landing spot for McLaurin if the Commanders to, indeed, get to the point of trading him. We asked our community members if they would want the Raiders to make a deal for McLaurin?

In a poll with nearly 700 votes cast, 70 percent of our voters were not feeling a McLaurin trade, while 30 percent would love to see the Raiders make the deal.

The Raiders have the salary-cap flexibility where they can acquire McLaurin and give him a brand new deal and still have room to to extend the contract of current No. 1 wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (he’s entering the final year of his contract) and keep him as the No. 2 receiver to McLaurin if they choose.

But I get the why many fans don’t want the Raiders to make that deal. McLaurin would probably cost the Raiders, at least, their 2026 first-round pick in a trade and it could push back the development of rookie receivers Jack Bech and Dont’a Thornton, who the team are both high on.

Here are some of your responses. Sign up and go to the comments section.

When you say it out loud, “Trade a first rounder, pay him top dollar and then extend Jakobi at a high number,” it doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. Sounds like something the McGenius would do.

Not the kind of move you make when you are still at least a year or two away from contending.

We still have too many needs on this roster to give up next years 1st round pick as well as how much he will cost salary cap wise.

Roll with what we have and see if any of the 3 rookie WR that we drafted pan out. Plus I think that Micheal Mayer will play a big role in Chip Kelly’s offense as a traditional TE while Brock Bowers plays a lot as the slot WR.
