Las Vegas Raiders is getting praise from PFF before he is takes an NFL snap
The Las Vegas Raiders did the move they were expected to make by drafting Ashton Jeanty. He was rumored to be the number six pick in the draft early in the draft period, and the Raiders made a lot of people look smart.
With Jeanty looking to be the workhorse for the Raiders that he was for Boise State, his potential to have a big season is sky high. His ability to catch the football was not utilized in his last season in college, but Chip Kelly is hoping he can use him in the run and pass game.
His talent caught the eye of PFF.com in their preseason running back rankings. Without even taking a snap, Jeanty landed 13th on their list.
Only four running backs in the PFF era have earned elite PFF rushing grades as rookies: Adrian Peterson (2007), Alfred Morris (2012), De’Von Achane (2023) and Bucky Irving (2024). Jeanty could very well be the fifth, and the third in a row.
In 2024, he set PFF college records with a 96.6 PFF rushing grade, 1,970 yards after contact and 152 missed tackles forced.
The buzz for Jeanty is rising, and we will see how much run he gets in the preseason. When September comes around, Jeanty will be attempting to help the Raiders land another top-five player at their position from the draft.
