The Linc – NFL insider poll ranks Dallas Goedert as a top 10 tight end

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 7/11/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

Execs, coaches, scouts rank NFL’s top 10 tight ends for 2025 – ESPN+
9. Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles. Highest ranking: 7 | Lowest ranking: unranked. Age: 30 | Last year’s ranking: 7. Goedert occupies a tricky space on the list because he’s a longtime top-10 resident but is, quite clearly, the fourth option in the Eagles’ offense behind Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Philadelphia explored a potential trade for Goedert this offseason, only to revise his contract to one year and $10 million. His 2024 output — 42 catches for 496 yards and two touchdowns — was his lowest since his rookie year in 2018. But he’s still considered among the most complete tight ends in the NFL. “He’s still on the short list of tight ends that affect the game at a high level,” a high-ranking scout with an NFL team said. Added a veteran NFL defensive coach: “Very good player — does everything extremely well, just not exceptional at any one thing in particular … You don’t give him as much thought as some of these other top [tight ends], but probably because you can’t afford to with Saquon, A.J. and Smith in that offense.”

Eagles’ Week 4 opponent is dealing with some bad news – BGN
Some big NFL news that potentially impacts the Philadelphia Eagles: Tampa Bay Buccaneers All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs recently underwent knee surgery that could cause him to miss multiple games. The Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud reports that Wirfs “will likely begin the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list.” If that’s true, Wirfs will automatically be ineligible to play in the Bucs’ first four games. That much is relevant for the Eagles, who are set to play at Tampa in Week 4.

QB Swap Talk – Iggles Blitz
Jayden Daniels is the right QB for Washington. He was a huge part of that team going from awful to the NFC title game. Jalen Hurts is the right QB for the Eagles. He has led the team to two SBs in three seasons. I can’t stress how impressive that is. Some people love to say any QB would have gotten to those SBs because of how talented the roster is. What a load of crap. Part of being a QB is being a leader and setting the tone for your team. Hurts does a great job of that. Think about how focused he was in the SB, even with the Eagles firmly in command. He didn’t want to let up at all. Hurts focus and determination helps his team show up in big games.

Taking a closer look at edge rusher competition in 2025 training camp – NBCSP
Jalyx Hunt. Age: 24. Experience: Year 2Size: 6-3, 252. The 2024 third-round pick is likely going to be the other starter opposite Smith. While there’s some projection involved with Hunt, his ceiling is limitless and he showed immense growth as a rookie. He had 1 1/2 sacks the entire regular season and then had another 1 1/2 in four playoff games. The Houston Christian product began his rookie season as a healthy scratch in São Paulo and ended up being a difference-maker in Super Bowl LIX. This offseason, Lane Johnson said Hunt put on some weight and looked good. It’ll be exciting to see what Hunt can do in Year 2.

2025 NFL season: One player to root for from each NFC team – NFL.com
CAM JURGENS: The Tush Push Era lives on, and I have to say, I have become fully push-pilled, seduced by the otherworldly proficiency with which the Eagles are able to steamroll their way to key conversions. One of the appealing elements of the play is the way in which it gives a more visible role to the O-linemen who tend to fall out of the frame otherwise — like Jurgens, who handled the task of taking over for Jason Kelce with aplomb last season, earning his first career Pro Bowl nod. If Jurgens continues to establish himself alongside his more veteran linemates like Jordan Mailata , Landon Dickerson and Lane Johnson , he can help the Eagles keep, erm, pushing the evolution of the game.

Why Brandon Graham believes Philadelphia Eagles could repeat as Super Bowl champions – CBS News
Along with the talent, Graham believes the team’s leadership and strong personalities like quarterback Jalen Hurts, right tackle Lane Johnson and wide receiver A.J. Brown will help the team battle adversity off the field. “You got people that will address something if it really needs to be addressed,” Graham said. “And that’s what you really want with a team. In our business, you’ve got to address stuff or it’ll show up on you at the wrong time. And I feel like we got that. We got guys that, if coach don’t want to say it, we going to say it.”

Daily Slop – 10 July 25 – Laremy Tunsil is the first Washington Commander to make this year’s NFL Top-100 list – Hogs Haven
A collection of articles, podcasts & tweets from around the web to keep you in touch with the Commanders, the NFC East, the NFL and sports in general, and a sprinkling of other stuff.

Agent’s Take: Why Terry McLaurin’s contract dispute with the Commanders is more complicated than you think – CBS Sports
Taking everything into consideration, it’s hard to envision a realistic scenario where McLaurin accepts less than Brandon Aiyuk’s $30 million per year in an extension even though there is an age difference between the two. Aiyuk signed a four-year, $120 million extension with the 49ers containing $76 million in guarantees. Out of the $76 million, $45 million was fully guaranteed. Aiyuk was 26 when he signed. Quinn might start singing a different tune about McLaurin if the contract impasse can’t be broken by the time the Commanders veterans report to training camp on July 22. It would be interesting to see whether McLaurin would be willing to incur a mandatory $50,000 fine for each day of training camp missed in a holdout or stage a hold in where he reported to training camp to avoid this fine but didn’t practice until there is a resolution with his contract. A contract dispute lasting until the start of the regular season is approaching could begin to impact Washington’s ability to sustain or build upon last season’s surprising success that resulted in an NFC Championship game appearance.

Cowboys discussion: DaRon Bland, Jaydon Blue, and players under pressure – Blogging The Boys
Who needs a big year this season to put the fans faith back into that player? There are a number of players that need a big bounce back year, or to at least find the spark to ignite their career. Here are a list of players that if they find their old flame or get going in 2025 could spell a big year for Dallas. Dak Prescott (QB)After a strong 2023 regular season, Dak faltered badly in the playoffs, a trend a lot of fans point out with Dak. Injuries have played a huge factor in Dak’s time in Dallas, where it’s a stellar season one year where he leads the season at the position, followed by a season where he misses large chunks of the year due to injury, 2024 being another example. Fans want consistency and postseason results, meaning anything short of an NFC Championship game will result in another offseason of scrutiny and disappointment.

Training camp preview: New York Giants biggest question at wide receiver – Big Blue View
Unless the toe injury that kept him sidelined all spring becomes a real issue, Nabers’ ascent to superstardom should continue this season. Even modest improvements in quarterback and offensive line play could help assure that. The question is, do the Giants have enough receiving weapons beyond Nabers to capitalize on the big-play abilities of their quarterbacks? If tight end Theo Johnson develops as the Giants hope he will, and running backs Tyrone Tracy and Cam Skattebo both provide reliable targets out of the backfield. The lifeblood of the passing attack, though, generally comes from the wide receivers.

4 NFL coaches on the hot seat in 2025 you might not expect – SB Nation
NFL training camps will soon be starting and, as usual, there are some head coaches who are entering the season feeling pressure. There are some coaches such as Brian Daboll of the New York Giants, Shane Steichen of the Indianapolis Colts and Brian Callahan of the Tennessee Titans who are clearly in situations where they most deliver to keep there jobs after the 2025 season. Yet, there are other coaches who also may be looking over their shoulder soon if they stumble this season. Between six and seven coaching changes happen every offseason, on average, so it can’t just be the ones we expect heading into the season.
