Your take on the Miami Dolphins trades last week!

Your take on the Miami Dolphins trades last week!
Set Number: X162893

With the trades made by our Miami Dolphins last week, I asked the following:

What do you think about the Dolphins/Steelers trade? Do you believe the Dolphins received fair value given the circumstances, or do you think the Steelers took advantage of the Dolphins? Do you see this as a negative, considering what was given up, or a positive, knowing that everyone understood the team had to trade Ramsey and might have been approaching that point with Smith as well?

Below are some of your thoughts and answers-

tvegas897 wants to know about the dead money. Ramsey’s dead hit for 2025 is 10.745 million and 18.468 million in 206.

Does anyone what Ramsey’s dead money hit is for the rest of his contract? I am sure the Steelers aren’t picking up that tab.

phyrmun, I think, is suggesting that the Phins might have done okay.

I think that it is always better to be on the side of the trade that gets one great player, and not the side that gets multiple players in an attempt to make it even. But that’s what I have learned from fantasy football for what it’s worth.

MiMiami has the Steelers with the win, but the Dolphins are still performing better than he thought they would.

I thought Miami would receive peanuts for Jalen Ramsey. Minkah is a decent consolation prize.

Steelers, however, won this trade. Ramsey is still a good player playing on a very good defense. Perhaps you can called Fitz for Ramsey a wash. PIT then landed a starting TE.

Miami didn’t exactly improve the roster. Smith + Ramsey > Fitzpatrick.

Wildfin22 believes it’s better than a stick in the eye!

Great that we got something out of the deal and Minkah is a big something.

Alpha6 is very happy with the outcome.

What do you think about the Dolphins/Steelers trade? Awesome

Do you believe the Dolphins received fair value given the circumstances, or do you think the Steelers took advantage of the Dolphins? Absolutely the best the Dolphins could do here.

Do you see this as a negative, considering what was given up, or a positive, knowing that everyone understood the team had to trade Ramsey and might have been approaching that point with Smith as well? In no way is this a negative. This transaction was a win – win for both teams.

Dolfanjoe, I think, believes the Phins did okay, all things considered.

Is Fitz ready to lead our defensive backfield ? Glaring need met. Funny though, neither teams wanting to give up draft picks next year ! We did fine for being in a bad position. Smith got what he wanted. Our young TEs get what they wanted. And that is a chance to prove themselves !

toscana jones says win, win, win!

What do you think about the Dolphins/Steelers trade? Impressive and unexpected

Do you believe the Dolphins received fair value given the circumstances, or do you think the Steelers took advantage of the Dolphins? If we consider the $10M cap saving then yes, the Phins received fair value in the trade

Do you see this as a negative, considering what was given up, or a positive, knowing that everyone understood the team had to trade Ramsey and might have been approaching that point with Smith as well? The Ramsey-Fitzpatrick trade was a win-win proposition, Smith for a day 3 picks swap a little less, but let’s not forget the caps saving.

However, the overall rating of the trade should be suspended until we see what the FO will do with that extra cap space. If they sign, or trade for, a veteran CB and a TE, then I’d say it was definitely a winning trade for both parties involved.

sdphinsfan believes it worked out for both sides.

I think when you look at this trade it totality, both teams stand a good chance to win from it. Ramsey for Fitzpatrick is pretty much even, possibly more than even for our side when we see what Weaver has in store for Minkah. I like alot of those possibilities.

Alot of people are miffed about not extending Smith. But he became expendable when we signed NWI in FA. Add on top of that Smith doesn’t block, and he wanted a big raise….I just don’t see why you don’t trade a guy knowing all that.

Alley Gator doesn’t care about the “win”, just winning on the field!

There are no winners or losers in this trade, because I don’t care about the Steelers and only question should be ‘did we get better with this trade?’

I think we did. Fitzpatrick is younger and cheaper than Ramsey which is a new direction for this team compared to the last 4 years. I think Smythe was a better TE fit for us than Jonnu. Dude can’t block, so the gains we got from his receiving were offset by the running game going south last year, making us one dimensional. Here’s hoping Pharoah Brown (and the new guards, of course) get Achane back on track, which will open things up for Tyreek and Waddle.

jimmythesaint1 was confused, as most of us likely were when we heard.

I was on the beach all day Monday, and squinting thru the sunshine looking at my phone, I read Fitzpatrick was coming back. I said, &%#(+@!!!!!!, Tua got hurt and/or retired and Ryan Fitzpatrick is coming back???

After the 20 year old tanned hard body lifeguard brought me back from the dead, she kept whispering, “Minkah, not Ryan, it’s Minkah.

I’m not happy to see Jonnu go, but I get it.

I guess.

Well, that’s our ten random comments for this evening. It seems as if the Dolphins faithful were/are happy with the trade, all things considered. Thank you as always for taking the time to participate in our Phinsider Question Of The Day posts.
