Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
NFC East roundtable: Can the Eagles repeat in the division? – ESPN
COMMANDERS REPORTER JOHN KEIM: Philadelphia. Yet another year predicting a repeat winner in a division that hasn’t had one since 2004. But how do you go against the Eagles at this point? Yes, maybe something goes wrong but entering the season it would be silly to bet against a team that dominated Kansas City to win the Super Bowl. The Eagles still have a dynamic offense and a top defense, despite losing two starters along the line. Yes, Washington and Dallas could mount serious challenges — it’s hard to duplicate what the Eagles did in a tough division. But the Commanders, who lost to the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game, must answer questions on defense — though they have the right quarterback in Jayden Daniels — while the Cowboys have a first-time head coach and their own questions. The Giants will be good defensively, but quarterback remains a major issue. So until further notice, it’s the Eagles. […] COWBOYS REPORTER TODD ARCHER: We know the history and history tells us it won’t be the Eagles. The Giants have the most climbing to do. The Cowboys were 12-5 two seasons ago, and when Prescott has been fully healthy (or mostly), they have been playoff contenders. Then there’s the Commanders. Will there be some regression in Year 2 with Dan Quinn? Will there be more of a book on Daniels to slow down the quarterback? At some point history has to repeat itself, so I’m sticking with the Eagles, despite the departures of some players and coaches.
Lane Johnson on Nick Sirianni: “I think he’s evolved” – BGN
Eagles’ OT Lane Johnson caught up this week with a couple former teammates, LeSean McCoy and Emmanuel Acho, on their show, “The Facility,” and spoke about head coach Nick Sirianni. Johnson explained that one of the best things about Sirianni is that he’s a very good communicator, and how the head coach always addressed potential distractions, good or bad, as a team so nothing lingered — including the mid-season comments about the passing game last year.
A collection of hate mail from our dumpster fire series – PhillyVoice
Every year, we publish some of the angry reactions to the series. The whiniest of the bunch this year, by far, were Commanders fans. After getting back to the playoffs and actually making it to the NFC Championship Game, Commanders fans’ typing finger beer muscles are back, much like Giants fans had a brief offseason of confidence after their team won a playoff game in 2022. I didn’t hear a peep from Cowboys fans. Anyway, the following is a collection of the emails, DMs, and Twitter replies that I received, with spelling and grammar left unedited, but some of the bad words starred out. There are also some Commanders bloggers who wrote articles about their 10 reasons, lol.
First in Line – Iggles Blitz
As of now Tyler Steen is projected as the RG. Steen only has three career starts so lack of experience is his biggest issue. He has NFL size and athleticism. Steen has looked good at times when he has played. Steen will have to earn the RG position. He’s in the lead for now, but Matt Pryor and several other players will push for the job. Steen has the potential to be a good starting OL in the NFL. I think some people forget he went to Alabama and was a Top 75 pick. He’s not some pet project of the coaching staff. Steen is a legit player. We just don’t know if he can be a consistently good starter. He has to win the job and show that over the course of the season.
Spadaro: Eagles Offseason Review, Part 1: Taking care of their own – PE.com
How did the Eagles get to this point? A three-part series as Training Camp nears. Today: Taking care of their own. In the blink of an eye, the Super Bowl Parade ended. The celebration after beating Kansas City 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX was finished. Within just a couple of weeks of winning the Lombardi Trophy, the Eagles were at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, business as usual. Every team in the league, 0-0. The hangover was long, long cured. It was time to set the agenda for the 2025 Philadelphia Eagles season.
Examining what it would take for the Cowboys to start entertaining life without Dak Prescott – Blogging The Boys
2. Can’t stay healthy: Prescott turns 32 years old next month. He’s entering his 10th season as the team’s starting quarterback. You might remember that it was Tony Romo’s 10th season as the team’s starter when he got hurt twice and only played in four games that year. That was the dreaded 2015 season, which ended up being the last year Romo started a game for the Cowboys. After never missing a game his first four years in the league, Prescott has now missed games in four of his last five seasons. In three of those seasons, he missed at least five games. It’s not unreasonable to say he’s reached a point in his career where every time he goes to the ground, we cringe.
Trade Kayvon Thibodeaux? Another analyst calls for Giants to do just that – Big Blue View
BBV’s Chris Pflum recently studied Thibodeaux and concluded that he is better than given credit for, and that the Giants should consider giving him a long-term deal sooner rather than later. I can’t help but wonder if Thibodeaux, who has 17 sacks in his last 29 games, is on the verge mastering the types of things Patterson talked about above. Thibodeaux may never reach his goal of breaking Strahan’s single-season sack record. It is not hard to imagine, though, that his best football is yet to come. Especially since he isn’t even 25 yet. It would be hard to watch that take place if Thibodeaux accomplished it in another uniform.
