The Eagles veteran OT recently spoke about head coach Nick Sirianni and his best qualities.
Eagles’ OT Lane Johnson caught up this week with a couple former teammates, LeSean McCoy and Emmanuel Acho, on their show, “The Facility,” and spoke about head coach Nick Sirianni.
Johnson explained that one of the best things about Sirianni is that he’s a very good communicator, and how the head coach always addressed potential distractions, good or bad, as a team so nothing lingered — including the mid-season comments about the passing game last year.
“I think he’s evolved as he’s become a head coach. There’s things, you know, he had some vocal stuff on the sidelines, but he’s addressed stuff with the team when he’s wrong, and I think that makes him human, makes him vulnerable, and I think it makes guys communicate more effectively with him.
The OT also said that Sirianni is very passionate and competitive, and that helps get the guys motivated.
Eagles players made an effort last season to encourage the head coach to be himself, and he seems to have taken their advice. Now that Sirianni has signed a new contract keeping him in Philadelphia for the foreseeable future, it’s nice to hear how much guys respect him.
