Is a veteran presence needed behind Ashton Jeanty or are the Raiders fine in the backfield?
There was a lot of media speculation that the Las Vegas Raiders might add another veteran running back and much of the chatter centered around Cleveland Browns free agent Nick Chubb.
That talk, of course, ended when Chubb signed with the Houston Texans this month. Shortly after Chubb was inked, the other top running back on the open market, J.K. Dobbins, left the Los Angeles Chargers for the Denver Broncos.
There is isn’t a ton of talent left in the free-agent running backs class. There’s Gus Edwards, Jamal Williams, Ezekiel Elliott, Nyheim Hines and Raiders’ free agent Ameer Abdullah among the available players at the position.
So, it’s pretty thin.
The Raiders will be centering the ground game on first-round draft pick Ashton Jeanty. They signed veteran Raheem Mostert in free agency as well and other other backups including Sincere McCormick, Zamir White and Dylan Laube. Last week, coach Pete Carroll indicated that he won’t rely on just Jeanty this season.
I know some folks were high on a Chubb pursuit but now that that possibility is gone, do you want to add there?
