The Linc – Dallas Goedert credits Jalen Hurts for making him feel valued

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 6/18/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

Dallas Goedert feeling comfortable in his own skin as Jalen Hurts makes the Eagles tight end feel valued – Inquirer
In the aftermath of the Super Bowl, Dallas Goedert didn’t know if he had a future in Philadelphia. But he knew he had a vote of confidence from Jalen Hurts. The 30-year-old tight end spent the first couple months of the offseason in contract negotiations with the Eagles, as the impending final year of his deal contained no guaranteed money. Goedert called the uncertainty “stressful” and chose to spend time around friends and family in his hometown, Britton, S.D. He also received moral support from his quarterback. Goedert said that Hurts reached out to him and offered him words of validation while his future as an Eagle hung in the balance. “He didn’t really recruit me back, but he made me feel like I was an important part of the team,” Goedert told The Inquirer on Tuesday. “I was important to him, and that was obviously a really good feeling.”

The Relationship Eagles’ Dallas Goedert Didn’t Want to Walk Away From – SI
Part of that feeling contributing to Goedert’s return that hasn’t gotten much publicity is his position coach, Jason Michael, one of the better tight end mentors in the NFL, and someone Goedert has grown close to since Michael arrived with head coach Nick Sirianni in 2021. “I feel like he’s had a really big impact in my career,” Goedert told Eagles On SI on Tuesday when asked about Michael. “He came the start of my fourth year, and he gave me a lot of confidence in myself. He asked me a lot of questions of why I was doing stuff, why I wasn’t doing stuff. And then over the last four years, we’ve been able to grow a lot but he’s definitely helped me improve as a tight end, improve as a person.

Is Philadelphia capable of appreciating a team as good as the Eagles? – BGN
This is why we make lists. It’s why we rank players. It’s why there is needless debate over where Jalen Hurts ranks among Philly athletes and/or NFL QBs. All our lives we dreamed of having a star QB good enough to play his best when it mattered most. Ron Jaworski couldn’t do it. Randall Cunningham couldn’t, either. Neither could Donovan McNabb or Wentz. Eagles fans now have what we’ve always wanted. Our wishes were granted. So why do we feel the need to argue about the level of greatness of the unquestioned franchise quarterback? It’s possible we may be incapable of appreciating a team as great as the Eagles.

Eagles rookie NFL player comparisons: C Drew Kendall – PhillyVoice
Like Kendall, Dalman is the son of a former NFL offensive lineman. His dad Chris played center and guard for the 49ers for eight seasons during the 1990’s. Coming out of Stanford, Dalman was considered an undersized-but-cerebral player. His scouting report from 2021 sounds a lot like Kendall’s.

Eagles 2025 most important list: Jahan Dotson – NBCSP
Late last summer, Eagles GM Howie Roseman realized the Eagles needed a legitimate No. 3 receiver and pulled off a trade to bring in Dotson from Washington. But it was already August and that didn’t leave Dotson a ton of time to work with Jalen Hurts and get integrated into the offense. And if there’s one thing we’ve learned about Hurts during his time as the Eagles’ starting quarterback, it’s that he needs to be able to fully trust his receivers. On top of that, the Eagles ran the ball more than any other team in the NFL in 2024. And when they did pass the ball, it was obviously going to A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert first. That didn’t leave much left for Dotson. In fact, based on the numbers, Dotson was the least productive receiver in the NFL last season. Dotson played 674 offensive snaps in the 2024 regular season and had just 19 catches for 216 yards. There were 67 receivers in the NFL last season who played at least 600 snaps and Dotson ranked dead last among them in receptions and yards.

Rookie Q&A: 3 questions with Kyle McCord – PE.com
What are you most looking forward to? McCord: “I think first game at the Linc. I grew up going to games as a fan, so to be out there playing, performing, in front of the people I sat with and cheered with, that’s going to be pretty surreal. The whole thing since the draft has felt that way and it has taken some time to settle in, but now it’s just football. The best of the best. I love every bit of this and to go out there and have a chance to play and show what I can do in the stadium I grew up going to and rooting for the Eagles, that is going to be so much fun.”

AFC East vs. NFC East? North vs. North? Let’s pick the NFL’s toughest divisions – SB Nation
RJ OCHOA: To be clear for the sake of context, I cover the Dallas Cowboys around here so I am pretty biased in that sense. That being said I do think that this discussion is one of the more interesting because it features the division with the reigning Super Bowl Champions in the Philadelphia Eagles facing off against the one with the league MVP in Josh Allen. Interestingly, the NFC East has a quarterback and wide receiver who have had a lot of success before. Jalen Hurts and CeeDee Lamb starred together in college with the Oklahoma Sooners so we know that team chemistry will already be rather strong. What’s more is that the NFC East side will have Howie Roseman. While Allen is one of the absolute best quarterbacks in the entire league, maybe the best individual player across all eight East teams, the reality is that the lack of things around him across the AFC East is really weighing him down. I have to give this one to the NFC side.

2024 REWIND – Week 12 – Special Teams debacles lead to Commanders stunning home loss to Cowboys – Hogs Haven
Every division game matters, but Cowboys fans seemed to have a sense of fatalism coming into this game, while Commanders fans seemed to be entering with a sense of positive inevitability despite consecutive losses to Pittsburgh and Philadelphia in Weeks 10 and 11. The Cowboys season was practically, if not mathematically, over, and the attention of the Dallas fan base had turned to who would be coaching the team next season, which veterans would be re-signed, and what should happen in the draft. Unfortunately for Commanders fans, the Cowboys players and coaches were still focused on trying to add wins to the team’s record.

Giants work out 4 players at mandatory minicamp – Big Blue View
The New York Giants, perhaps looking to tweak their 90-man roster heading into training camp, worked out four players on Tuesday during their mandatory minicamp practice. Safeties K’Von Wallace and Millard Bradford, outside linebacker Kenny Dyson, and guard Carter O’Donnell joined the players on the 90-man roster for Tuesday’s workout. Wallace is the most recognizable name. A 2020 fourth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles, Wallace has played for the Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks in five NFL seasons.

Giants rookie QB Jaxson Dart draws praise: ‘Fit right in’ – ESPN
The early returns from the New York Giants on rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart have been positive this spring. Dart, the 25th pick in this year’s draft, again worked primarily with the second-team offense behind Russell Wilson and ahead of Jameis Winston and Tommy DeVito. He fired a touchdown pass deep down the right sideline on his final rep of minicamp practice Tuesday. With a light practice scheduled for Wednesday it could perhaps be his final pass before the start of training camp this summer. “He’s done excellent picking up information,” Giants coach Brian Daboll said beforehand. “It’s really good to have Russ and Jameis and even Tommy because Tommy has been in this system for a few years here. Kind of the head statesman in terms of that with all the adjustments that take place and the calls. He’s fit right in with those guys. He’s smart, aggressive with the football, which I like. And then the true test will be once we start with live hitting and preseason games and things like that. He’s progressed since he’s been here. … He’s made improvement.”

Giants O-line coach: Evan Neal ‘doing well so far’ in transition from tackle to guard – NFL.com
The New York Giants’ plan to move former first-round pick Evan Neal to guard is going as well as can be expected through offseason workouts. “He’s picked up things well inside,” coach Brian Daboll said on Tuesday at minicamp. “You know, training camp will be an important time of the year for him as for all the offensive linemen.” The former No. 7 overall pick in 2022 struggled mightily at right tackle his first two seasons, and only injuries thrust him into the starting lineup in 2024 after a benching to open the season.

Broncos agree to terms with UFL CB Mario Goodrich – PFT
The Broncos have agreed to terms with UFL cornerback Mario Goodrich, James Larsen of UFL Newsroom reports. Goodrich played seven games for the Birmingham Stallions, including one in the postseason, and totaled 17 tackles, one tackle for loss, six pass breakups and three forced fumbles.
