Why Terron Armstead calls Verse “different” and says he’s happy to not face him again
Jared Verse was the Defensive Rookie of the Year, but in an age of stats and analytics would the 24-year-old have stood out to fans who don’t follow the Rams after posting just 4.5 sacks in 2024? Without that award, maybe not.
But Verse definitely stood out — and sometimes stood over — to many of the offensive tackles who tried and often failed to stop his powerful, dominant bull rush.
Once such tackle is Terron Armstead, who cited Verse as the player he’s most happy to not have to face again after retirement. Appearing on Sirius XM, Armstead called Verse “different” thanks to his powerful bull rush and said, “I never got to see that man again” with a smile on his face.

Verse may have only had 4.5 sacks in the regular season, but a strong showing in the playoffs and many good hidden stats beyond those numbers, Rams fans can expect a breakout season from the 2024 first round pick in 2025. Could Verse, with help from teammates like Kobie Turner, Byron Young, Braden Fiske, and Poona Ford, end up with double-digit sacks in 2025?
Getting to 10 might only be the floor.
