Giants Reacts Survey: What has you hyped?

What are you excited for this summer?

The New York Giants are progressing through their offseason program. Mandatory minicamp is this week, with training camp as the next stop on the march to the regular season.

This is the time for optimism, when the future is still laid out in front of us and nobody quite knows how the thousands of parts around the NFL will fit together.

Few, if any, are expecting the Giants to be truly good this year. However there are also plenty of reasons why they could be better than their record would suggest — or actually outperform expectations.

So we want to take the opportunity to ask the community, what has you most excited for this year?

The quarterback position – Of course we have to mention the most important position on the field. The Giants have (almost) completely renovated their quarterback room for the first time in recent memory. Russell Wilson brings a wealth of experience and the attitude of a veteran champion. Jameis Winston brings excitement and buoyancy to the meeting room, and Jaxson Dart brings youth, enthusiasm, and hope for the future. How this group pans out could determine the course of 2025 and the next five years for the Giants.

The front seven – There’s a tremendous amount of interest and excitement for the Giants’ defensive front seven. The trio of Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, and Kayvon Thibodeaux were the core of a pass rush that was among the NFL’s best in pass rush win rate and sack rate last year. Now they’re joined by rookies Abdul Carter and Darius Alexander, as well as veteran DL/Edge Chauncey Golston. Behind them, Bobby Okereke hopes to return to form after playing through a back injury in 2024, while Micah McFadden looks to build on a breakout season last year.

Mike Kafka taking over play calling – All indications are that the Giants’ offensive coordinator will once again be calling the plays this year. Kafka proved incredibly adept at exploiting opponents’ tendencies as well as being flexible throughout the season in 2022. The Giants weren’t able to iterate on their offense in 2023 and defense were able to adapt once they were able to study the Giants’ tape. Now, however, Kafka has a very different quarterback room, as well as cast of skill position players with which to work. What could the offense look like this year?

The young skill position players – Speaking of the Giants’ cast of offensive weapons, there’s a lot to be excited about. Malik Nabers is a budding star while Darius Slayton and Jalin Hyatt bring blazing speed down the field. Wan’Dale Robinson has great short-area quickness and underrated lower body strength, and could benefit from the room created by Slayton and Hyatt. Tyrone Tracy looks like a late-round steal at running back, and Cam Skattebo could be the “Earth” to his “Wind”. And finally, Theo Johnson and Daniel Bellinger are big, well-rounded, and highly athletic tight ends. This group could take people by surprise.
