The Los Angeles Rams are bringing back Derion Kendrick after waiving him last week, according to an announcement by the team:

The Rams saved roughly $3.4M in salary cap space by waiving Kendrick a few days ago. Reading between the lines, it’s likely they are bringing back the corner at a lower cost to maintain some of the previous savings. The team did not include terms of the new contract in their announcement.

Impact on odds of a Jalen Ramsey trade

Re-signing Kendrick probably doesn’t have much of an impact on whether Los Angeles decides to re-unite with Jalen Ramsey via a trade with the Miami Dolphins. It’s clear by releasing and re-signing Kendrick to a lesser deal that they view him as a depth piece for 2025. Assuming that is true, that does not make this signing and a potential trade mutually exclusive.

The depth chart as it sits

There seems to be a clear pecking order amongst the first four corners on this roster between Darious Williams, Cobie Durant, Emmanuel Forbes, and Ahkello Witherspoon. Perhaps the team was comfortable waiving Kendrick initially at first because he was trending as no better than the fifth player in this position group.

It remains to be seen who will man the two starting outside corner jobs when the Rams take the field in Week 1. This is certainly something to monitor over training camp along with the potential addition of Ramsey.
