Fan base isn’t thrilled about the idea of seeing Raiders playing flag football

Recently, NFL owners agreed to allow players from the league to compete in the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles in the flag football competition.

Several top players in the league are expected to participate.

While it is difficult to project who will be the players selected for the Olympic games since it’s more than three years away, but some current Raiders’ players could be considered as top candidates to represent the United States on the flag football team. They include tight end Brock Bowers, defensive end Maxx Crosby and rookie running back Ashton Jeanty.

So, the possibility of the Silver and Black being represented in the next Summer Games is real. We recently asked our community members what they think of the idea of seeing some Raiders players going for the gold in 2028.

The notion was overwhelming as 83 percent of the voters think the risk of injury is too great to be behind the idea. I totally get the sentiment. While the idea is cool, it is really worth it?

A 10 on the dumb scale. It’s all fun and games till someone tears an ACL.

I’m gonna go with a no for selfish reasons. I just don’t want any professional player to get injured in it. They work way too hard to reach the NFL and because they could possibly get injured during a summer Olympics and miss a season. It’s bad enough when these guys go down to non contact injuries before the season starts, like Koonce, it can possibly derail a teams chances at a season if key guys get hurt. Plus the season is long enough now that I wouldn’t want to add more to these guys schedules since the timing would be right around camp and preseason.

More important than this… how is it that a sport barely taking off in one country is legit for the Olympics? Are there a bunch of guys in Peru, Egypt and South Korea playing flag football all the sudden?
