No small amount.
The Cincinnati Bengals and star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson are still in a contract standoff as the team’s mandatory minicamp continues. Hendrickson did not show up, in another clear message to the team that he does not intend to play under his current contract, that will pay him $16 million.
After back-to-back 17.5 sack seasons and finishing second in Defensive Player of the Year voting last season, Hendrickson is seeking a raise and long-term security.
With the minicamp being mandatory, Hendrickson is subject to fines for missing the practices. With each passing day, Hendrickson’s fines will grow, but it is clearly worth it in his eyes to send the message.
Hendrickson will be fined a total of $104,768 for missing this week, per Adam Schefter, something head coach Zac Taylor warned him about last month.
The two sides are digging their heels in, and with training camp starting next month, it doesn’t feel like any resolution is on the horizon.
