Three ways Giants offense will look different: Return of the deep ball, limited run game | The Athletic
With the Steelers last year, 11.6 percent of Wilson’s attempts were deep passes — throws that traveled at least 22 yards in the air, according to TruMedia — the ninth-highest mark in the league among qualified quarterbacks. Giants QBs only let it fly on 8.6 percent of their passes, which was 24th in the league.
One other thing to note about Wilson’s deep passing is that when it’s not there, the QB is quick to check it down. That means Giants running backs could be in for a huge receiving workload this season. Per TruMedia, Wilson targeted running backs on 22.3 percent of his throws last year, the third-highest rate in the league. By comparison, Giants quarterbacks targeted running backs on 14.9 percent of their throws, 26th in the NFL.
Darius Slayton is resigned to an 18-game season
#Giants WR Darius Slayton on the potential of an 18th game: “I thought 17 was insane. 18 & more international games are things I can barely wrap my mind around.”
But Slayton understands it’s a negotiation and there are things he’d want…

Jameis Winston quietly makes plays as Russell Wilson works to justify being handed No. 1 job | New York Daily News
Winston, meanwhile, is the big play hunter. The gunslinger. The veteran who likes to let it rip. Sometimes it gets him in trouble. Sometimes it leads to six points…If chasing explosive plays is what Daboll and the Giants are after, however, it’s hard to understand how Winston won’t receive an early call in the bullpen if he remains on the team come the fall.
If Winston remains on this Giants roster in September for whatever reason, though — whether it’s because Dart isn’t ready or the organization wants a contingency plan to Wilson — his playmaking is too intriguing to leave in the background with his helmet in his hand. Sooner rather than later, if Winston keeps being himself on this team, he’ll play.
Predicting the winners of the NFL’s top quarterback battles in 2025 | PFF
New York Giants: Russell Wilson vs. Jameis Winston vs. Jaxson Dart. With Dart likely out of the running early doors, it comes down to Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston. And from there, the choice becomes a lot simpler for the Giants. Winston is an excellent locker-room presence, and he ignited a sinking Cleveland Browns offense in 2024. But he remains a turnover machine, and his 5.2% turnover-worthy play rate led the NFL last season.
Wilson might not be close to the player he was five years ago, but his 79.5 PFF overall grade with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024 was his best since 2020. A former Super Bowl champion and 10-time Pro Bowler, Wilson will bring veteran experience to the locker room and provide leadership and guidance to Dart while making the Giants more competitive than they’ve been for the past two seasons. Eventually, Wilson will pave the way for Dart, but he likely enters the 2025 season as the Giants’ starter.
Prediction: Russell Wilson
Quarterback questions for 32 NFL teams: Contracts, QB1 races | ESPN.com
Can the Giants resist Jaxson Dart temptation all season? Every year, it seems there’s at least one team telling us it wants to sit its rookie quarterback as long as possible — all year if necessary. The Giants signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to make double sure they had capable veteran options while Dart developed into an NFL-ready starter.
But the reality is, it rarely works out. Last season’s Patriots were starting Jacoby Brissett and saying many of the same things, but they were so bad early on that Drake Maye took over the starting job in Week 6. Unless the Giants are scoring points and winning games at a surprising rate early in the season, it feels inevitable that they reach a point where it’s time to see what Dart can do.
What convinced the Giants that Abdul Carter was the right pick in the draft | New York Post
Abdul Carter was an easy pick but the Giants had to make sure he fit. “The ability to be multiple was really advantageous for us – in terms actually seeing true application of it. It’s not a hypothetical projection, we’ve seen it.’’

1 Sentence Scenario For Every Team to Make 2025 NFL Playoffs | Bleacher Report
New York Giants: Dak Prescott fails to return to 2021/2023 levels of production Jayden Daniels suffers a sophomore slump and the Eagles encounter a Super Bowl hangover while Russell Wilson rediscovers some of his old magic.
Best- and worst-case scenarios for every NFL team in 2025 | CBSSports.com
Best-case scenario: Russell Wilson has just enough juice to give Brian Daboll the play-action ball-controller he needed for a 2022 playoff bid, but Jaxson Dart develops behind the scenes to give New York true long-term quarterback hope.
Worst-case scenario: Wilson is solid enough to keep Dart off the field but sluggish enough to pull New York out of good 2026 draft position, and young building blocks like Malik Nabers grow disenchanted in the drama of it all.
