The Bengals’ defensive coordinator is eager to work with his rookie pass rusher.
The Cincinnati Bengals’ front office is in the middle of an ugly rookie contract dispute with Shemar Stewart.
The uber-athletic pass rusher out of Texas A&M is not happy that Katie Blackburn and company have changed the language around voiding years in his contract.
Stewart even went so far as to call out the front office by saying, “… in y’all case, y’all just want to win arguments (more) than winning more games.” Ouch.
With all that going on, the Bengals’ defensive coordinator has made it clear that he’d love to have Stewart out there on the field with his unit.
Fox 19’s Gabi Sorrentino tweeted: “Al Golden said Shemar Stewart has been great in meetings and learning the Bengals defense.” Sorrentino then quoted the DC as saying, “I love the young man. He has a great attitude.”
That’s a really good sign for the future of Stewart in stripes (assuming there is one), as we all know he still has a long way to go in terms of development.
We talked about the standoff between Stewart and the front office in the video below.
