With rookie second-round pick Tyler Shough, 2024 fifth-round pick Spencer Rattler, and 2023 fourth-round pick Jake Haener competing for their quarterback job, the New Orleans Saints could use a veteran QB.
Saints defensive end Cam Jordan has an idea — Jameis Winston of the New York Giants.
The subject of who Jordan, entering his 15th season with the Saints, would recruit as a veteran quarterback came up during an appearance by Jordan on the ‘Up & Adams Show’ with Kay Adams.
After thinking about it for a bit, Jordan said “Jameis?”, then seemed to sell himself on the idea of bring the Giants’ backup quarterback back to New Orleans.
“There’s Russell [Wilson] over there. They got Jaxson Dart,” Jordan said. “My guy, Jameis. Come on down.
“I’m going all in. Jameis as a veteran quarterback, come on over.”
Winston was a member of the Saints from 2020-2023, starting 10 games over that time.
There has been some speculation about the Giants moving on from Winston with Wilson being the present and Dart being the future. What that ignores, though, is that Winston is signed for two years.
Wilson has just a one-year deal. He seems unlikely to be willing to return in 2026 if his role would be to back up Dart. The Giants will, though, need a veteran backup for Dart and with Winston on the roster that quarterback is already in place.
