Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty is being used in the backfield and as a receiver early on during OTAs
The Las Vegas Raiders had a plan to rebuild with the draft. John Spytek decided not to be a big spender during free agency, opting instead to help the team become younger, which would lead to potential in the future.
A player who was drafted by the Silver and Black, who is expected to make an impact, is Ashton Jeanty. Jeanty is coming off a huge season at Boise State, leading the nation in rushing and overall touchdowns. He will be integral to the offense performing at a high level.
During Jeanty’s 2024 film, fans weren’t able to see his ability as a receiver. He has great hands, and during OTAs, reports have emerged of him creating big plays on the offensive side of the ball. Levi Edwards of Raiders.com spoke on the usage of Ashton Jeanty in 2025.
It seems Kelly is placing Jeanty all over the field, giving him more opportunities to get the ball in open space in last week’s practices,” Edwards wrote. “This included screen passes and getting the ball to the running back out in the flat.”
If Chip Kelly finds a way to turn Jeanty into the three-down running back, this offense could be highly explosive. With Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers outside, the running game will force single-high defenses that could allow the passing game to flourish. Hopefully, this all translates to the actual games in September.
