The Colts appear to have made a meaningful change among the top of their football operations staff.

According to multiple local sources, the Indianapolis Colts have parted ways with former chief personnel executive Morocco Brown (via AtoZSportsNFL’s Destin Adams and ColtsOnSI/LockedOnColts’ Jake Arthur):

Brown had been previously highly regarded in the Colts’ front office.

Having originally joined Indianapolis as a scouting intern back in 2000, Brown rejoined the Colts organization in 2017 as its director of college scouting before being promoted to his most recent role in June of 2022.

He had played a pivotal role in the scouting and pre-draft evaluation of incumbent starting quarterback Anthony Richardson, who the Colts selected with the 4th overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, due to his elite athleticism and immense potential—albeit with only 13 collegiate starts at the University of Florida previously:

It’s unclear what led to the Colts surprisingly parting ways with Brown.

Perhaps he obtained a promotion elsewhere—as there are some rumors he could be headed to the AFC East, or maybe the Colts were ready to move on, after the Richardson gamble hasn’t so far paid off. However, all of that is purely just speculation.

At any rate, one of the Colts longtime top football operations leaders will no longer be with the organization, and if Indianapolis does not achieve much more meaningful results (i.e., a playoff berth), that shakeup could only continue at a much higher level next offseason.
