A look at some players who are affected by Raiders’ offseason moves
Now, that free agency is mostly over and the draft is in the books, let’s look at some of the players on the Las Vegas Raiders’ roster who may see their roles reduced or eliminated based on additions. We are presenting the players in alphabetical order:
Tommy Eichenberg:
The fifth-round pick from last year had a lot of fans from the last regime, but the Ohio State product is starting over with the new leadership in Las Vegas after not doing much as a rookie. There is opportunity at linebacker, but Eichenberg could be in danger of losing a roster spot, especially if seventh-round pick Cody Lindenberg lights it up in training camp and in the preseason.
D.J. Glaze:
Another second-year player, Glaze had his moments as a third-round pick who started 14 games as a rookie. Yet, the new Raiders’ regime draft Caleb Rogers and Charles Grant in back-to-back picks in the third round this year. Rogers can play both guard and tackle and Grant may be a project. So, Glaze may get a chance to start again and establish himself for the future with this staff. But the two rookies could be hovering if Glaze doesn’t impress.
Dylan Laube:
Laube’s biggest worry is the fact that the Raiders drafted running back Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 overall pick. It’s that they took Tommy Mellott in the sixth round. Mellott is a converted quarterback that is listed as a wide receiver and is expected to help in the return game. Laube was taken in the sixth round as a backup running back and special teamer. There may not be room for both him and Mellott on the 53-man roster. So, Laube will have to show out in the preseason.

Aidan O’Connell:
O’Connell went to training camp competing for the starting job last year. That won’t happen this year as he is the backup to new starter Geno Smith. O’Connell should be the Raiders’ backup this year, but there is a chance he could be pushed sixth-round pick Cam Miller. Also, the Raiders could try to trade O’Connell after the preseason. No matter what happens, it is clear O’Connell’s status on the roster has changed.
Tre Tucker:
Tucker was a starting wide receiver after the October Davante Adams trade. No, he will likely be a backup after the team drafted Jack Bech in the second round. Plus, Tucker could lose snaps to fourth-round pick Dont’a Thornton as they play similar vertical roles. Tucker has to compete for targets this year.
Zamir White:
White went into last season as the starting running back now he is going to training camp as a deep backup and there is no sure thing he will be on the 53-man roster. If others shine, White could be a cut candidate this summer after an awful and injury-plagued 2024 .season.
