Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 6/3/25
If the rumors are true, then the Los Angeles Rams were looking to trade up in the 2025 NFL Draft, but who were the Rams targeting? I think (correct me if I’m wrong) Les Snead has said something to the effect that L.A. wasn’t looking for anyone in particular, but they were interested in trading up if possible.
Snead is also no stranger to exploring all options, so this is not surprising, but I do wonder who the Rams were looking at if they did choose to move up?
It sounds like Panthers asked for king’s ransom when Rams tried to trade up to No. 8 (ramswire)
“There are new details about those negotiations in a story on the Panthers’ site, detailing how Carolina was only going to trade the eighth pick to the Rams if it got “a load of picks out of them.”
That’s why when the Rams called — as they did last year, giving the Panthers a future second so they could move up in the 2024 draft — Morgan asked for a lot, just in case they said yes.
“It’s like if they want this, they’re going to have to go above and beyond, kind of like what they did to us last year when they gave us the two,” Morgan said. “That’s because I was convicted on our guy. I really don’t want to lose this player. But if we are going to lose the player, and it’s something that could potentially set us up for the future, if we get a load of picks out of them, then let’s explore it.
“But I didn’t really want to. I was kind of hoping that they would say no. So when they said no at the end, I was fine with it. I was actually like, ‘Sweet.’”
I suppose what’s done is done, but I still find this interesting, and now L.A. has two first round picks for next year, so who knows what they will do with those? What we do know is that the Rams look poised to compete this year, and with two firsts, they could get even stronger next year. That’s not a bad place to be.

League-altering Rams trade proposal adds Steelers $112 million future Hall of Famer (sportingnews.com)
“The Steelers would be foolish to trade Watt right now, even though negotiations don’t seem to be in a great place. However, NFL Spin Zone’s Lou Scataglia believes the Los Angeles Rams should call Pittsburgh and see if they can pull off a trade for the All-Pro defender.
The Los Angeles Rams are no strangers to making major trades, and while this team has kind of flipped their roster-building more toward drafting and developing, there is still a path for this team to part with draft capital. The Rams are a contender and could get that much more explosive along their defensive line with this move.
The Rams have been a consistent playoff team under Sean McVay, but the team hasn’t been able to put together a consistent postseason run since winning the Super Bowl in 2021.”

The Rams’ Quarterback Factory (si.com)
“The number attached to their name is their rank.
7. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
“Stafford isn’t coming off his best season — his 74.7 overall grade in 2024 reflects that — but what keeps him in this upper tier is his complete command of the Rams offense,” wrote Kosko. “Despite playing behind a shaky offensive line and losing multiple top weapons to injury, he was still a drive away from knocking off the eventual Super Bowl champions in the divisional round. When Stafford is locked in, he is as good as anyone in football.”
9. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
“Goff has piloted one of the NFL’s most productive offenses over the past two seasons, earning an 84.8 passing grade over that span, the seventh-best in the league. We’ll soon find out how much of that success was tied to Ben Johnson, now the Bears’ head coach, but the results speak for themselves: Goff has been a top-10 quarterback over the last two years.”
