The question has been answered
A few months ago, the Minnesota Vikings inked head coach Kevin O’Connell to a long-term contract extension ahead of his fourth season with the team. Today, they have done the same with the man running the front office.
The Vikings have announced that they have agreed to the terms of a multi-year contract extension with General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. The financial terms of the deal were not immediately made available.
Minnesota hired Adofo-Mensah after an extensive search following Rick Spielman’s dismissal following the 2021 season. Prior to coming to Minnesota, he served in various roles in the San Francisco 49ers front office and then went on to be the Vice President of Football Operations for the Cleveland Browns in 2020 and 2021.
Under the leadership of Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell, the Vikings have compiled a regular-season record of 34-17, winning the NFC North title in 2022 and making the playoffs in two of those three seasons. Over the past couple of seasons, the team has also gotten out from underneath a lot of the bad contracts that had been signed and has made moves to try to build the team for the long-term with the drafting of quarterback J.J. McCarthy in 2024 and hitting an absolute home run with last year’s free agent class.
The expectations are high for this year’s version of the Minnesota Vikings, and now the man who has played, perhaps, the most significant role into building a team worthy of such expectations now has his long-term security in the form of a new contract.
Congratulations to Kwesi Adofo-Mensah on his new deal to stay in Minnesota!
