Player Engagement group has two new leaders
The New York Giants have revamped the ‘Player Engagement’ portion of their football operations staff.
The Giants have added Darien Harris as Director of Player Engagement.
Harris, a former Michigan State linebacker and team captain, had been serving as Assistant AD overseeing NIL strategy at Michigan State. He’ll work alongside Usama Young, the team’s new VP of Player Engagement. Harris had been on staff at Michigan State since ,020.
The Giants added Young as VP of Player Engagement earlier this offseason.
Ashley Lynn, Director of Player Engagement since 2021, is no longer with the team. Lynn had been the first woman hired to the role in the NFL.
What is ‘Player Engagement’? The NFL defines it as “a four-pillar approach to supporting NFL players and their families during their NFL experience and beyond: Continuing Education, Financial Literacy, Professional Development, and Personal Development.”
Among other things, Player Engagement helps rookies transition into the NFL, new players coming from other places transition to a new city, helps players learn how to handle finances, and helps veterans near the ends of their careers transition to life after football.
