The former Vikings standout is hitting an early rough patch with the Patriots, all while being away from the team during OTAs.
Former Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs played five seasons in Minnesota before ultimately being traded to the Bills. The best season of his career came in that first year with Buffalo when he recorded career highs of 127 receptions and 1,535 yards. At the same time, that was the same year the Vikings drafted Justin Jefferson so as far as everyone was concerned, it was a true win-win for both sides.
After four seasons on the East Coast, Diggs was traded once again to the Texans ahead of the 2024 season. Unfortunately for him, his campaign was cut short due to a torn ACL at the halfway point of the schedule. Despite being over 30 years old and coming off a serious injury, the Patriots still handed him over $20 million/year to return to the AFC East.
However, despite not being in attendance for this week’s OTA sessions, Diggs has still found a way to make headlines with the way he’s spending his time away from the team. In a recent video that went viral on social media, the wideout is depicted on a boat surrounded by a group of women, all while holding a bag that looks to be filled with a pink substance (we’re going to stick to those facts only, as well, and presume nothing else!). It also should be noted that the time of the video being recorded remains unknown.
Look, players can do whatever they want during the offseason, especially when current team activities are only voluntary, but the optics here are far from positive.
The Patriots are aware of the viral video showing Stefon Diggs on a boat with a group of women, holding what appears to be a pink substance. Head coach Mike Vrabel addressed the situation, saying he’s spoken to Diggs and emphasized the importance of players “making great… pic.twitter.com/HJ1CzqKMl8

Heck, for all we know, it could just be…gum? Yeah, let’s go with that.
When asked about the video, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said that the team was aware of it and that “we want to make great decisions on and off the field.” Until the facts come out, no one knows if Diggs truly is making a not-so-great decision while on that boat. At the same time, no one can say he is not, either.
Mike Vrabel on the viral Stefon Diggs video:
“It’s something we’re aware of. We want to make great decisions on and off the field.”
On if he expects Diggs to practice today:
