Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 5/22/25
This is a links article, not a deep-dive, so please do your own research, but apparently Andrew Whitworth is pushing the idea of an award for offensive lineman, would you be into that type of award?
I am guessing there are two schools of thought. Either you think enough awards are already given out, or you would like to see the offensive line get a bit more recognition for their efforts because as it stands it’s basically impossible seeing a lineman win an offensive player award.
Are there any other awards you’d like to see the NFL incorporate?

BREAKING: Rams’ Andrew Whitworth Succeeds In Getting Offensive Lineman Award (si.com)
“For an offensive lineman, just because you play in a group, the reality on most plays is that it’s one on one,” Whitworth, a two-time All-Pro, told the L.A. Times’ Sam Farmer recently.
“Having an award like this would let an individual stand up there as the best of the best. Every young kid in high school that may be teetering as to whether he wants to be an offensive lineman or not can say, ‘Wow, look at [the San Francisco 49ers’] Trent Williams. Look at [the Philadelphia Eagles’] Lane Johnson.’ It’s an inspiration to want to be great.”
Well, through the work of Whitworth and Buffalo Bills’ Dion Dawkins, that dream is a reality, according to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.”

No rookie defender had a higher PFF grade than Rams OLB Jared Verse last season (ramswire)
“Pro Football Focus’ Thomas Valentine named Verse the highest-graded edge rusher from the 2024 rookie class, and it’s easy to see why.
Verse logged just six sacks in his rookie season, but his down-to-down impact was much more significant. His 77 pressures in the regular season were the fourth most at the position and the most by a rookie since Nick Bosa in 2019, and his 28 stops against the run were also the fourth most. Whether playing the run or rushing the passer, Verse is an every-down threat. Verse was a worthy winner of the Defensive Rookie of the Year award, becoming the first Ram to win it since Aaron Donald in 2014.”

CBS Sports regraded the Rams’ 2022 draft class: How did LA do 3 years ago? (ramswire)
“Under the Sean McVay and Les Snead regime, the Los Angeles Rams have knocked some of their draft classes out of the park. Over the last nine years, they’ve drafted stars such as Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, Kyren Williams, Jared Verse and Kobie Turner.
While their 2022 class may not have been the cream of the crop, the Rams did find Williams, Quentin Lake and Cobie Durant that year. They’ve all started games for Los Angeles, as has Derion Kendrick – a sixth-rounder in 2022.
Now three years later, how has the Rams’ 2022 class fared? CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco regraded every team’s class from that draft and the Rams’ grade remains unchanged: B- in 2022 and B- now.”
