The purple stay out of the crosshairs
The National Football League has made its decision on which teams will be featured in this year’s installments of the Hard Knocks television series, and our Minnesota Vikings have dodged the bullet once again.
The league has announced that the Buffalo Bills will be featured on the preseason version of the long-running series, while the newer in-season version will focus on the NFC East. The Vikings do play all of the NFC East teams this season, but they will obviously not be the primary focus of the show.
In all the years the NFL has been doing Hard Knocks, the Vikings have never been featured. Some of that has to do with the fact that there were restrictions in place that narrowed which teams the league could mandate to do the show, but even with the changes to those rules that were announced back in April the purple will not be featured.
I’m not sure whether not being on Hard Knocks is a good thing for the Vikings or not. On the one hand, it might be a bit of a distraction for the players having all the extra attention, though I have my doubts that Kevin O’Connell and his staff would allow it to get that out of control. On the other hand, any Vikings content is good content as far as I’m concerned, so one day it might be interesting to see the curtain pulled back for a closer look at what goes on with the team.
In any event, if you want to see the Minnesota Vikings featured on Hard Knocks, you’ll have to wait until the 2026 season at the earliest.
