Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 5/20/25
Back in March, the San Francisco 49ers were projected to the win the NFC West over the Los Angeles Rams, and here we are in May and guess what? Apparently, the 49ers are still expected to pass the Rams for the NFC West title.
I gotta be honest, I don’t get this take. Can the 49ers win the NFC West? Sure, they can. So can the Arizona Cardinals (or even Seattle Seahawks). Now, would I pick the 49ers to win the NFC West right now? No, even putting my bias as a Rams fan aside, I think the Rams are in a better position than the 49ers.
I am not a betting man, really, but if you are, then now may be as a good a time as ever to put some money on the Rams to win the NFC West (bet responsibly, bet wisely!). I’ll be curious to see if that is still the expectation come September.
In the meantime, thanks for checking out Turf Show Times, comment on whatever you want and have a great day!
49ers are favored to win the NFC West over the Rams despite finishing last in 2024 (ramswire)
“As competitive as the NFC West has been over the years, it’s a division that’s been owned by the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers since Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan took over their respective teams in 2017. In eight seasons, the Rams have won the division four times, the 49ers have won it three times and the Seattle Seahawks have won it once – which came in 2020 when the Rams beat Seattle in the playoffs.
Last season, it was the Rams who finished atop the West with a 10-7 record, while the 49ers were two games behind the rest of the division at 6-11, finishing last for the first time since 2020.
Looking ahead to the upcoming 2025 season, the Rams and 49ers are once again viewed as the favorites. But which team has the best odds to win the West? According to DraftKings Sportsbook, it’s the 49ers with the best chance. DraftKings has the 49ers as +145 to win the West, with the Rams second at +200.”

Rams Considered ‘Best Team Fit’ for High-IQ All-Pro Trade Candidate (bvmsports)
“Getty Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay reacts against the Dallas Cowboys. The Los Angeles Rams remain in need of a few reinforcements, and cornerback is also still one of them, which has Miami Dolphins star Jalen Ramsey in the speculative trade crosshairs. ESPN’s Matt Bowen noted the seven-time Pro Bowler, 2021 Super Bowl champion, and three-time All-Pro is “no longer a blue-chip” player at this stage of his career. However, Bowen also listed the Rams as the “best trade fit” for Ramsey. “The Rams could use his skill set, as his jolt of speed and ball production would…”

Week 15 Could Be Dire for the Rams (si.com)
“As we enter the final full month of the regular season, these games between projected playoff opponents go up a level,” Sullivan wrote. “Clubs are rounding into top form and continue to elbow one another for seeding. This matchup between Detroit and Los Angeles could be an NFC Championship preview and/or a slugfest as they try to earn a head-to-head tiebreaker for seeding purposes.”
Whether the Rams and Lions are in playoff positions or not, these two franchises have built quite a rivalry over the last few seasons. Since quarterback Matthew Stafford has joined the Rams, the rivalry has had more of an impact on both Los Angeles and Detroit fans.”
