Best rookie QB situations: Ranking the 2025 class by team fit | PFF
1. Jaxson Dart, New York Giants. Considering the adjustment he’ll have to make transitioning from the offense he ran at Ole Miss to a pro-style system, Jaxson Dart landed in a pretty good spot in New York. Giants head coach Brian Daboll did a spectacular job developing Josh Allen over multiple seasons, and the Giants signed two veteran quarterbacks — Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston — to ease the pressure on Dart to start right away.
Dart may have led the FBS in passing grade in 2024, but he won’t have to rush into game action before he’s ready.

This NFL rookie threw passes to Malik Nabers and caught them from Jaxson Dart — and he’s betting on Giants duo being ‘really electric’ | New York Post
Before he caught passes from Jaxson Dart, Tre Harris threw passes to Malik Nabers.
Nobody in the NFL is better situated to analyze the new quarterback-receiver connection that the Giants hope produces a fruitful decade than Harris — a Chargers rookie who was Nabers’ high school quarterback and Dart’s leading receiver at Ole Miss.
2025 NFL rookie QB outlook: Best- and worst-case scenarios for Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders and others in Year 1 | CBSSports.com
New York Giants Jaxson Dart
- Best-case scenario: 65% completion, 7.2 yards per attempt, 2,520 passing yards, 16 TD passes, 7 INTs, 28 sacks, 93.2 rating
- Worst-case scenario: 59% completion, 6.2 yards per attempt, 1,820 passing yards, 8 TD passes, 10 INTs, 36 sacks, 69.9 rating
Dart is a talented thrower with plus athleticism on his side, which is part of the reason why his best-case scenario sack total is somewhat low. Also, the Giants have slowly but surely built a quality skill-position group on offense and the blocking should be improved, so if everything aligns for the first-rounder, a spectacular season with a rating in the low 90s isn’t out of the question.

New York Giants: at Patriots, Week 13
Patriots QB Drake Maye is always going to be the one who got away. The Giants tried to move up to No. 3 to select Maye in the 2024 NFL Draft, but were rebuffed by New England. He went on to produce an excellent rookie campaign and has the Patriots back on the ascent. Meanwhile, the Giants aren’t yet sure if they have a QB of the future on their roster. They drafted Jaxson Dart in the first round this year, but until he gets onto the field, it will be impossible to know for sure what they have. Perhaps in this marquee Monday night matchup late in the season we’ll get to see Maye and Dart square off.

Ranking the top 25 players under 25 entering the 2025 NFL season | PFF
15. WR Malik Nabers, New York Giants. Nabers is the closest rookie receiving threat to Brock Bowers coming out of 2024, and depending on which metric you want to favor, there’s a reasonable argument he could be ahead of him on this list. In a stacked 2024 rookie wide receiver class, Nabers was the best of the bunch, leading the group in PFF receiving grade (87.1) and targets (165) — both top-10 marks for the position.
Nabers was also the only rookie wide receiver to crack the top 10 in PFF WAR in 2024, ranking as the Giants’ most valuable player in that regard by a significant margin.
NFL vet Allen Robinson: Giants should give Jalin Hyatt another look before adding a WR | New York Daily News
Veteran receiver Allen Robinson II believes that the Giants already have an explosive downfield threat on their roster that they haven’t fully deployed—his former Giant teammate Jalin Hyatt.
“Something they missed last year was being able to create those explosives down the field. Having Jalin right now on your roster, maybe they can sit tight and see how that plays out. He is a young, explosive receiver, and not many teams have those guys just sitting around,” Robinson said . “I think you’ve got to kind of find out where Jalin Hyatt can fit into that role…Seeing what he did as a rookie, being able to be effective at low volume, I think that’s something they need. If they’re able to get that from somebody already on the roster, somebody they don’t have to pay [as much as a vet]. I think they can get those things with the way their current receiver room sits.”

New York Giants: RB Devin Singletary. A year ago, the New York Giants signed Devin Singletary to a three-year, $16.5 million contract, hoping that he could adequately replace Saquon Barkley. However, rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. proved to be New York’s best back, and the Giants added Cam Skattebo in this year’s draft. Releasing Singletary would save $1.5 million in 2025 cap space while erasing his $5 million 2026 salary from the books.
