Joe Burrow vs. Josh Allen part III (or IV) is on the way
The Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills have a lot of similarities: two historically downtrodden franchises lifted up by transcendent quarterbacks.
Both teams have looked like contenders deep into the season but failed to put together a championship run.
And then there has been the wild recent history between the teams themselves.
The Bengals hosted the Bills on January 2, 2023 on Monday Night Football only for the game to be suspended and then cancelled due to a frightening injury to Damar Hamlin, who suffered cardiac arrest before being revived on the field.
After that game was removed from the history books, the Bengals lost any chance to win the #2 seed in the AFC and would hypothetically have to win a coin flip to secure home field advantage for the first round.
Meanwhile, the Bills and Kansas City Chiefs would play on a neutral site, were they to meet in the playoffs.
In other words, the scenario in which the Bengals defeated the Bills was never taken into consideration, even though Cincinnati was leading the game before it was suspended.
Clearly the way that all played out frustrated Bengals players, who shocked the NFL world by clobbering the Bills at home in the playoffs in the divisional round just 20 days after their previous matchup.
Then the two teams met again in November of 2023, and the Bengals would win again.
In Week 14 of the 2025-26 season, Joe Burrow and the Bengals will face Josh Allen and the Bills for the fourth time (if you count the cancelled game). And there are sure to be offensive fireworks between two of the top three quarterbacks in the game.
We previewed that game and other notable dates on the Bengals’ schedule in the video below:

In other news, Trey Hendrickson made a splash with his recent comments about the lack of communication with the Bengals’ front office.
If Hendrickson doesn’t play this season, it’ll make it all the harder for the Bengals to match up with the likes of Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, who the Bengals face in Weeks 13 and 15.
Hopefully the two sides can work things out before the start of the season.
