Jaxson Dart. As exciting as Abdul Carter and his injection along a defensive line that already consists of Brian Burns and Dexter Lawrence is, what gives New York Giants fans hope is Jaxson Dart. The front office had enough faith in the Ole Miss product to trade back up into the first round of the draft to select him, and he is now the long-term answer at the position. Of course, it’s a question as to when we’ll actually see Dart with Russell Wilson likely the Week 1 starter, but he provides hope for a brighter tomorrow and heads to New York with a ton of raw skill.

Cam Skattebo, RB, Giants (Round 4, No. 105 overall). Giants fans are dreaming about the long-awaited sequel to Ron Dayne and Tiki Barber’s “Thunder and Lightning,” as Skattebo and second-year fifth-rounder Tyrone Tracy Jr. are headed toward being “Smash and Dash” for Daboll. Skattebo is on track to beat him out as the choice power back to complement Tracy, a converted wide receiver from college. Skattebo just needs to keep flexing his playmaking and toughness from his star turn at Arizona State.
Post-NFL Draft 2025 outlook for all 32 teams heading into the summer | The Athletic
The Giants look a lot better on paper than the 3-14 mess they were last year, especially on defense. For all of the attention the quarterback situation gets, the Giants have been somewhat quietly building a strong defense this offseason. Not only did they add an exciting pass rusher in Abdul Carter at No. 3, but also they landed some high-quality veterans in free agency (safety Jevon Holland and cornerback Paulson Adebo) to fortify their secondary. We’ll see if all the investment results in a better defensive performance in 2025, but the pieces are there so that it should be this team’s backbone, no matter what happens with the offense.

Well, that would be working with backups — as part of the Giants’ actual team — when they begin spring practices. The Giants will have 12 such practices — 10 during voluntary organized team activities and two during mandatory minicamp. They’re all the same sort of no-pads, no-contact workout. It’s just that the OTAs are voluntary and the minicamp is mandatory. Dart surely will attend all of it.
OTAs begin in about two weeks, on May 27. Minicamp ends June 18. And then the Giants will be off until training camp starts in late July. Those 12 spring practices over three weeks (along with the accompanying meeting team) should give Dart a good early foundation.
Not gonna lie, the ball spin while dropping back was

What stood out from Giants rookie minicamp, including confident Jaxson Dart, imposing Darius Alexander | SNY.tv
The best thing you can say about Dart is there was an undeniable confidence in his play. He looked comfortable and in control. I’ve covered rookie camps every year dating back to 2015 (absent the COVID season). I’ve lost track of the number of young quarterbacks (draft picks, undrafted, tryouts) I’ve seen throw. They’re almost always jittery. You’ll see them hitch because they’re not trusting their eyes. They’ll force the issue. They’ll sail passes because they’re nervous. You didn’t get that with Dart. That impressed me.
He also very clearly has arm talent. It was interesting watching him next to tryout quarterbacks Sammy Edwards and Myles Crawley because there was a very clear difference. He has a unique throwing motion, but there’s no lack of zip on his passes. He threw mostly passes within 15 yards of the line of scrimmage. They were impressive fastballs. As Dart develops, he’ll learn to control that. You don’t always need to give every pass everything you have. You want to throw the cliche catchable ball.

Abdul Carter, New York Giants. The defensive line was one of the few bright spots for the Giants in 2024, with a front led by Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns helping Big Blue tie for the eighth-most sacks (45) in the league. The addition of the uber-dynamic Carter should make the unit even better, with defensive coordinator Shane Bowen able to deploy the Giants’ three top edge rushers — Carter, Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux — in multiple ways. Carter was the consensus top edge rusher in this year’s draft, boasting the skill set and tenacity to relentlessly wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks.
