What Rams games do you want to see in primetime?
Ever since the Los Angeles Rams arrived in one of the nation’s top media markets, they have been a popular selection for primetime football. The Rams played five games in primetime last season and it wouldn’t be surprising for them to hit that number once again in 2024. Here are the top-5 games on the Rams schedule that need to be in a primetime slot.
1. at Philadelphia Eagles
This is the game that many people want to see again following last season’s NFC Divisional playoff game. No team in the playoffs gave the Philadelphia Eagles a closer fight than the Rams did. If Matthew Stafford has time and finds Tyler Higbee coming open over the middle, it may have been the Rams hosting the NFC Championship game and going to the Super Bowl.
These are two of the best teams in the NFC and could have playoff implications on the line. Would the Rams be able to contain Saquon Barkley this time around? Ideally, the Rams are able to get this game before late-November when the weather could become an issue. While the Rams may not open the season in Philadelphia, they may still get them on primetime.
2. vs. Seattle Seahawks
Cooper Kupp’s return to Los Angeles and SoFi Stadium deserves primetime and hopefully this one comes early in the season. It will also be Sam Darnold’s first time facing the Rams since his disastrous performance in the NFC Wild Card round.
When Kupp returns to SoFi, the Rams will likely have something special planned and hopefully have a tribute on then video board. It will be odd seeing Kupp on the visitor’s sideline in a Seattle Seahawks jersey, but it also makes for great primetime television. These two teams played a pair of tight games last year and this season will likely be no different.
3. vs. Detroit Lions
Over the past few years, the Rams and Detroit Lions have played a few of the most entertaining games on the schedule. They started the season last year in an overtime thriller that the Lions won. Only months prior to that, the Rams lost by one point in the playoffs. With Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford still playing, this game is always going to be must-watch.
Much like the Eagles, these are two of the best teams in the NFC and playoff tiebreakers could end up being on the line. Getting this game earlier in the season when the Lions are still adjusting to life without Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn may be more beneficial. Either way, this is going to be one of the more anticipated games on the Rams schedule.
4. vs. San Francisco 49ers
There are a lot of people that seem to be writing off the San Francisco 49ers in the same way that the Rams were written off heading into 2023. It should be obvious at this point that there is a Super Bowl hangover, especially in the 17-game season format. The Rams, Eagles, and 49ers have all suffered the same fate after losing the Super Bowl.
However, the 49ers will be heading into this offseason with less drama and injuries. Kyle Shanahan is going to be focused to get this team back on track. The defense should play better with Robert Saleh as the defensive coordinator. This is not going to be an easy game for the Rams and a rivalry like this is great primetime football
5. @ Baltimore Ravens
Two years ago, the Rams and Ravens played one of the best football games of the season. Matthew Stafford and Lamar Jackson combined for over 600 yards passing and six touchdowns. It was an absolute quarterback clinic with both players making insane throw after insane throw.
Could this be a potential Super Bowl preview? This may be better slated for a Sunday afternoon game. However, the last two matchups between these teams have been won by a combined seven points. This matchup has everything you would want in a primetime game with the coaching and quarterback matchups.
