Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
Ranking top NFL pass-catching groups: Bengals lead class; Cowboys stand out after George Pickens trade – NFL.com
2) Philadelphia Eagles. It’s hard to find a glaring hole on the defending champions’ roster thanks to the Eagles’ superb scouting and development process. Philadelphia has utilized every acquisition method (draft, trade and free agency) to stockpile blue-chip playmakers. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith share duties as co-WR1s in an offense that utilizes a potent running game, led by Saquon Barkley, to set up opportunities through the air. WR Jahan Dotson and TE Dallas Goedert excel at working the underneath areas to punish opponents utilizing two-deep coverage and split-safety looks designed to limit throws over the top. Despite their best efforts, few defenses have been able to neutralize the Eagles’ aerial attack with Jalen Hurts tossing the ball all over the yard to a collection of sticky-fingered pass catchers with slick route-running skills and big-play potential on the perimeter. [BLG Note: The Dallas Cowboys are 8th.]
Eagles depth chart following the 2025 NFL Draft: Special teams edition – BGN
The Eagles had 45 kick returns during the 2024 season (including playoffs). Isaiah Rodgers and Kenny Gainwell, who both left Philly in free agency, combined for 34 of those (75.6%). Shipley had 10 while Smith had one. With the Eagles signing Williams and listing him as designated “return specialist,” he could get the nod as the top kick returner. Williams logged 27.2 yards per kick return last year, which is solid. Shipley could also see a good deal of returns as well. Smith wasn’t a good kick returner in college so it’d be surprising to see him have success in this capacity. Jackson and Morin are long shots to make the roster as UDFA signings but they’ll have an opportunity to turn some heads in the preseason.
Potentially Worrisome News For Eagles Nakobe Dean Out Of San Francisco – SI
Sobering news came from the San Francisco Bay Area on Friday when the 49ers released promising edge rusher/outside linebacker Drake Jackson, who failed a physical. How that relates to the Eagles is Jackson suffered a torn left patellar tendon in Week 8 of the 2023 season, and his rehab has not gone well. Linebacker Nakobe Dean suffered a torn left patellar tendon in the Eagles’ march to the Super Bowl in the Wildcard round of the playoffs in January. Each person is different regarding healing and rehabbing, and Dean professed he would be back better than ever when Eagles on SI caught up with him at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.
2025 NFL schedule release: Who will Eagles’ opponent be in their Week 1 Thursday night opener? – Yahoo! Sports
The favorite: Rams. This seems like the sweet spot. The Rams and Eagles had a tense game in the NFC divisional round last season. It was the closest the Eagles came to a loss on their way to a championship. Los Angeles has a fun team with Davante Adams being added to the offense alongside Puka Nacua. Matthew Stafford almost rallied his team to a playoff win over a great Eagles defense the last time we saw the Rams. The last time the Eagles won a Super Bowl, their Week 1 opener (2018 season) was against an Atlanta team that came up just short of beating Philadelphia in the divisional round. This is the matchup that checks the most boxes for what the NFL usually desires in the opener. It’s not a divisional matchup, and it’s a good playoff-level opponent but the league could save the best possible foe for Fox or NBC later in the season. There’s star power on the other side and a big market as well. We’ll guess Rams at Eagles will be the opener, as long as the NFL can resist giving us an NFC East matchup.

10 notable rookies the Dallas Cowboys will face in 2025 – Blogging The Boys
Obviously the Philadelphia Eagles had a great draft and came away with Jihaad Campbell at the end of the first round. He will present another challenge for the offensive front.
Why Steelers trading George Pickens was perfect timing – ESPN
Though Pickens could still change the narrative depending on the outcome of his Steelers career, recent history suggests the Steelers are successful at timing these decisions. Prior to Pickens, the team’s two previous trades involving drafted wide receivers sent Johnson to the Carolina Panthers for cornerback Donte Jackson and a picks swap, while Claypool went to Chicago for a No. 32 pick the Steelers used to take CB Joey Porter Jr. Claypool, once a second-round pick, managed just 217 total receiving yards with the Bears and Miami Dolphins. He wasn’t on a roster in 2024. Johnson, meanwhile, had 375 combined receiving yards as he pinballed around the league in tumultuous stints with the Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans. And perhaps the most notable well-timed trade by the Steelers was the move to send Brown to the Raiders after the 2018 season.
‘Good job, Joseph!’ Giants show how they landed Jaxson Dart – Big Blue View
There has been an impression that the New York Giants’ interest in drafting quarterback Jaxson Dart was driven by head coach Brian Daboll and his staff once coaches got involved in the draft process. Watching the ‘Giants Life: How the Jaxson Dart trade went down’ video pretty much confirms that Dart was the quarterback Daboll had zeroed in on.
Derek Carr retiring from NFL due to shoulder injury – SB Nation
Ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, news broke that New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr was dealing with a shoulder injury that put his status for the upcoming season in jeopardy. Now, after trying both an injection and physical rehabilitation, Carr has decided to retire, according to multiple reports. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network was first with the news, outlining that after Carr tried both a round of rehab as well as an injection, doctors informed him he would not be 100% until “another procedure.”
