The rookies have their numbers, at least for now

The New York Giants have revealed their 2025 draft class’ numbers.

Third overall pick Abdul Carter won’t be wearing number 56 or his college number of 11. Instead, he’ll be wearing number 51.

That number, of course, was worn for 13 years by long snapper (and nominal linebacker) Zac DeOssie. That might not be the linebacker Carter had in mind, but it’s a fine number and DeOssie was one of the best in the NFL at what he did. The Giants would certainly be happy if Carter can help the Giants to a pair of Super Bowl wins as DeOssie did.

Jaxson Dart will be wearing number 6, most recently worn by Jamie Gillan, the Scottish Hammer himself, in 2024.

Defensive tackle Darius Alexander will be continuing the legacy of Justin Tuck and wearing number 91.

Cam Skattebo, meanwhile, will be wearing number 44, made famous by Ahmad Bradshaw. Hopefully Skattebo will have his own “rookie from Marshall” moment this year.

Rookie offensive lineman Marcus Mbow got number 71, which Giants fans will most likely associate with Will Hernandez, from 2018 to 2021.

Seventh rounders Thomas Fidone II and Korie Black will wear numbers 86 and 25, respectively. The number 86 had most recently been associated with Darius Slayton, while 25 was worn by Dante Miller last year and Deonte Banks as a rookie in 2023.

Each of these numbers is subject to change, but which ones do you think fit the player and will stick?
