From Kupp to Warner, these Rams stars looked strange in new uniforms.
For the first time in his NFL career, former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp will be wearing a different helmet and jersey. It won’t be just any jersey, but a Seahawks jersey. To say the least, it’s going to feel strange. The Rams have seen legends finish their careers elsewhere before — just as Joe Namath once ended his playing days in Los Angeles after a storied run with the Jets. Thankfully, Aaron Donald will never be one of those names.
With the start of mini-camp and the first images of Kupp in a Seahawks uniform surfacing, now feels like the perfect time to revisit some of the weirdest player-team swaps in Rams history.
1. WR Isaac Bruce to the 49ers
There are some things that you like to pretend never happened and Rams legend Isaac Bruce playing for the San Francisco 49ers is one of those things. One of the best moments of Bruce’s career with the Rams was his two first quarter touchdowns against the 49ers in 1999. It was that game that gave the Rams belief that they were legit.
Bruce spent two years in the Bay Area in the red and gold, highlighted by an 800 yard season with seven touchdowns in 2008. One of those touchdowns sparked a 16-3 comeback in St. Louis against the Rams. Bruce reunited with Mike Martz with the 49ers, but didn’t experience a winning season in San Francisco. He was traded back to the Rams following the 2009 season so that he could retire as a member of the team that drafted him.

2. WR Cooper Kupp to the Seahawks
The Seahawks shared the first clip of Cooper Kupp catching passes from Sam Darnold and this one just didn’t sit right. It felt weird and it’s only going to get more strange as the year progresses and Kupp puts on a Seahawks helmet and jersey. That doesn’t mention what it will be like when Kupp runs out of the away tunnel in his return to SoFi.
When Kupp does run out of the tunnel, it wouldn’t be surprising if he gets a positive reception and the Rams have something planned on the oculus video board. Hopefully, Kupp follows in Bruce’s footsteps and is able to return to the Rams and retire as a member of the team that he won a Super Bowl MVP with.

3. QB Kurt Warner to the Giants
While Warner spent five years with the division rival Arizona Cardinals, nothing gets more strange than his lone season with the New York Giants. There may not be a quarterback who looked more miserable on the sideline in the cold New York weather than Warner.
The Rams choosing Marc Bulger over Warner in 2004 was a turning point for the franchise. It showed how quickly things can change as Warner won MVP in 2001. The offensive line and defense were big issues for the Rams in 2002 and 2003 and Warner suffered because of it. There has been some relationship reconciliation from both sides since, but it will never get back to how it was from 1999-2001.

4. RB Eric Dickerson to the Colts
Dickerson’s first four years in the NFL with the Rams may never be matched by another running back. He broke the NFL’s single season rushing record in 1984 and then rushed for over 1800 yards in 1986. It was the beginning of a contract dispute that would result in Dickerson being traded in one of the NFL’s biggest trades at the time.
When Dickerson was traded, he was no longer worth the headache he was causing. The Rams received a multitude of players and picks, but none really worked out. Greg Bell won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 1988 with the Rams. Dickerson with the Colts simply wasn’t as iconic as he was in horns.

5. DL Deacon Jones to Washington
If you were to create a Rams Mount Rushmore, Deacon Jones would very likely be on it. While he played two seasons with the San Diego Chargers after leaving the Rams, his lone season in Washington simply didn’t look right. He had a career-low three sacks, but he did kick an extra point in the final game of the season.
Jones on the Rams is simply iconic. He didn’t look right in the powder blue and yellow of the Chargers. However, he definitely did not look right in the burgundy and gold in Washington. This one was strange to say the least.
