Other Giant observations
Giants souring on Shedeur Sanders was never about a ‘bomb’ meeting — here’s what did go wrong | New York Post
Have you noticed what you haven’t noticed? Nary a peep from the Giants about Shedeur Sanders. No team in the NFL spent more time, resources and manpower evaluating and getting to know Sanders. It was no secret the Giants were hell-bent on getting a quarterback up high in the draft.
There was no “bomb” meeting. There were less than ideal interactions. There were touch points … all along the line for the Giants to assign to the pro and con columns. The conclusion was that the “con” column was too overflowing to accept.

Best Jersey Number Fits for Giants’ 2025 Draft Class | SI.com
Abdul Carter has already been told it’s a no-go on the retired numbers 56 (as it should be) and No. 11, the number he wore at Penn State. If Carter wants to follow a Giants tradition regarding Penn State linebackers, what better number to wear than 55?
That was what the number linebacker LaVar Arrington, who dubbed himself “Mr. Nickels,” wore during his brief time with the Giants. It makes sense because it’s the same digit repeated twice, like No. 11. It’s also one digit shy of No. 56, the great Lawrence Taylor’s jersey number, and a man to whom Carter aspires to emulate.
NFL draft confidential: College coaches’ surprises, sleepers | ESPN.com
Penn State’s Carter played outside linebacker early in his college career before shifting to defensive end last fall. He had 12 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss as a consensus All-America selection in 2024. He joins a New York Giants defense that operates primarily out of the 3-4 set.
“He’s a pretty special talent,” said a Penn State source. “I don’t know if he’ll be a leader, but he’s definitely going to do things the right way. His personality will fit right in there.”
Arizona State’s Cam Skattebo, who finished fifth in Heisman Trophy voting, went early in the fourth round to the New York Giants. An NFL assistant who scouted Skattebo described him as a “hard charger” who lacks top-end speed but wills his way for yards. “Can he stay healthy?” a Big 12 coach asked. “He’s a battering ram and he’s going to be hitting people who are a little different.”
Highest-graded player at every position from the 2021 NFL Draft | PFF
S: Jevon Holland, New York Giants (85.4). Holland recorded a career-low 63.0 PFF overall grade in 2024, but he’s still the highest-graded safety in the 2021 class, edging out the likes of Tre’von Moehrig, Talanoa Hufanga and Camryn Bynum. He earned a 90.4 grade in 2023 and an 84.7 grade in his rookie season. Holland has shown that he’s capable of playing in the box, in the slot or as a free safety, and his versatility earned him a three-year, $45.3 million contract with the Giants in free agency.
The Giants will hope that they get the version of Holland closer to 2023 than this last season with the Dolphins, but he’s a Swiss Army knife of a safety and should comfortably find a role in New York’s defense.

Jaxson Dart: Detailed path to becoming NY Giants starting QB | The Record
Dart will spend plenty of time watching and listening from behind the offensive huddle, even when it’s not his turn to call out the cadence at the line of scrimmage. That will come, but time spent in the meeting room breaking down video of what Daboll wants, comparing and contrasting that to the physical and mental reps Dart gets, that experience will be priceless in closing the gap and ultimately seizing the No. 1 job.
Giants offseason winners and losers: Do Kayvon Thibodeaux, Evan Neal have futures in NY? | The Athletic
Winner WR Jalin Hyatt. The Giants didn’t sign any notable wide receivers in free agency. They also didn’t draft any receivers. That leaves Hyatt’s position on the roster as strong as it was last year despite an eight-catch, 62-yard season. The biggest win for Hyatt was the signing of quarterback Russell Wilson, who should accentuate the speedster’s strength of catching deep balls. Even if the pre-draft criticisms of Hyatt as a one-trick pony prove accurate, Wilson gives him a chance to maximize that skill more than any other quarterback available this offseason.
