Execs unfiltered thoughts on NFL Draft for every NFC team: Giants, Bears get high marks | The Athletic
This was a coherent draft for the Giants, one in which they correctly determined they did not need to address their quarterback future at No. 3. “They had conviction and confidence, and then they had the execution as well,” an exec said, “so you have to give them credit. They had a good draft. Whether it all comes together, who knows?”
“Their nickel (pass-rush) package will be crazy!” another exec said. “They don’t want to blitz that much, and now, they do not have to. They are loaded.”
“Carter is more like (Micah) Parsons than people realize,” an exec said. “I think he can play off the ball. He transcends any specific scheme.”

Best value picks of the 2025 NFL Draft | PFF
3. New York Giants: EDGE Abdul Carter, Penn State. Pick Grade: Elite
The Giants added enough at quarterback in free agency with Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to give them the freedom to take one of the few obvious blue-chip talents in this draft. Carter’s 66 quarterback pressures ranked second in the FBS in his first season as a full-time edge rusher in 2024. He now joins a Giants defensive front that already features several impact players in Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns.
105. New York Giants: RB Cam Skattebo, Arizona State. Pick Grade: Elite
Skattebo was RB3 and the No. 51 overall player on the PFF Big Board, making this a strong value pick for the Giants at the top of the fourth round. He doesn’t have elite speed, but he excels in many areas that translate well to the NFL. Skattebo ranked above the 85th percentile in PFF rushing grade in both gap and zone schemes in 2024 and was the only running back besides Ashton Jeanty to force more than 100 missed tackles on the ground last season.
Joe Schoen’s minimal tweaks to Giants O-Line a curious approach for make-or-break season | New York Daily News
Their plan at guard, at the moment, involves familiar names like Runyan Jr., Evan Neal, Van Roten and Jake Kubas. Neal played left guard for a season at Alabama. So if he moves there, Runyan Jr. would be able to slide back to the right side, where he played for the Green Bay Packers before signing in New York.
Neal, Kubas and Van Roten also could compete for the right guard spot. This spring, there should be plenty of reps to go around.
NFL Draft 2025’s best undrafted free agent fits: One player to watch on each roster | The Athletic
New York Giants: Antwane Wells Jr., WR, Ole Miss. Wells (6-1, 201) was one of the hottest transfers in the country in 2022 following a 15-touchdown season at James Madison. A foot injury slowed him down in 2023-24, but Wells has enough wiggle to get open and be a problem after the catch.

Last fall, WR Jaylin Hyatt was barely a blip on the radar every Sunday, running routes but rarely touching the pigskin. In 16 games, he recorded just eight catches for 62 yards and an average of 7.8 yards per reception for his worst stat line as a football player.
Hyatt is a speedy player on the edge who can create chunk plays with the ball in his hands. The main issues have been figuring him into the plays and the poor quarterback play that always seemed to miss him when they had him open in stride.
Getting the ball to Nabers is job one for the Giants next year

2025 NFL Draft: New York Giants breakdown | PFF
Position/role battle to watch: DI Darius Alexander vs DI Rakeem Nunez-Roches
Since signing with the Giants in 2023, Nunez-Roches has struggled to produce, earning sub-47.0 PFF overall grades in each of the past two seasons despite playing on a talent-rich defensive front that should have offered more one-on-one opportunities.
Alexander profiles as a clear upgrade in New York’s base 3-4 defense, bringing the strength and power to hold up against the run (90.3 PFF grade) and a solid pass-rush profile (78.0).
The Giants botched the 2022 NFL Draft so spectacularly when it could have made them elite | SBNation.com
Sure, there’s a large element of this which benefits from hindsight. The Giants’ two first round picks were almost universally loved — which makes this a question of whether the players were the mistake in this, or the Giants’ inability to develop them. If only one of these picks truly failed it would be one thing, but botching both feels endemic.
What could the Giants have done? Perhaps more importantly: What should they have done? If we look back at that class there’s a clear pivot point that would have changed everything.
