There are some interesting players remaining in the secondary

With the NFL draft complete, the eye is squarely on the 2025 season for the Las Vegas Raiders.

But there is still some subtle work to be done. While the team’s roster is mostly intact under the new regime of genera manager John Spytek and head coach Pete Carroll, the team will likely continue to tinker with the roster all the way through the season.

For now, there are some solid player remaining on the free-agent market. We recently asked our community members which free agent they would most like to see the team sign.

It’s clear (and understandable), fans are interested in the Silver and Black adding in he secondary. In a poll with more than 800 votes casted, here are the results:

  • Cornerback Rasul Douglas, 29 percent.
  • Safety Justin Simmons, 24 percent.
  • Cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., 20 percent.
  • Cornerback Mike Hilton, 15 percent.
  • Wide receiver Keenan Allen, 8 percent.
  • Pass-rusher Za’Darius Smith, 4 percent.

I get the reasoning here. The Raiders need some help in the secondary, and only one fo those players would help.

I would be surprised at any large incoming FA contract. Besides the draft, I think we’re stashing cash for the one year prove it candidates like Koonce and Chinn. We have a lot of deals like that. But I could see us taking a low to medium shot on a FA.

We have cap room even after we sign the draftees. Simmons and Douglas would be solid additions.

I’m feeling good about DB’s. Stokes and JB will compete with DCam and Porter to start on the outside. Holmes with compete with Harper, Webb and Kelly to start inside. And we’re going to be in alot of Big Nickel with Chinn in the box. Could see Taylor in there as well.
Also liking the UDFA class as well.
