Will a deal get done?
The NFL Draft came and went with no Trey Hendrickson trade being made.
Does that mean the Bengals are still pushing to get an extension done?
According to The Athletic reporter Dianna Russini, there have been “good vibes” coming out of Cincinnati trying to get a deal done for Hendrickson.
“I did a little digging on it, and I’m still getting really good vibes coming out of Cincy that they’re going to try to get a deal done with Trey,” said Russini.
The 30-year-old Hendrickson is coming off a season in which he nearly won NFL Defensive Player of the Year after registering a league-high 17.5 sacks. However, his age makes it a risk for the Bengals to give Hendrickson the kind of long-term extension he wants as he enters the final year of his current deal.
The Bengals did spend a first-round pick on Texas A&M defensive end Shemar Stewart, but he looks more like someone who will hopefully complement Hendrickson, not replace him.
Let’s hope that’s the case and the Bengals find a way to get a deal done for Hendrickson.
