It’s now on Daboll to blend all these pieces together and make it work — especially on the defensive side. Pressure will also be on defensive coordinator Shane Bowen to find a way to get Carter, Burns and Thibodeaux on the field together. To make sure all of them put up numbers and get after the quarterback.
No way around it, that will be the identity of the Giants — their ability to rush the passer around those three players and Lawrence.

Biggest steals from every round of the 2025 NFL Draft | PFF
No. 105 New York Giants: HB Cam Skattebo, Arizona State (Big Board Rank: 51)
Skattebo was RB3 and the No. 51 overall player on the PFF Big Board, making this a strong value pick for the Giants at the top of the fourth round. He doesn’t have elite speed, but he excels in many areas that translate well to the NFL. Skattebo ranked above the 85th percentile in PFF rushing grade in both gap and zone schemes in 2024 and was the only running back besides Ashton Jeanty to force more than 100 missed tackles on the ground last season.
Cam Skattebo: Inside legend of NY Giants NFL Draft pick | The Record
Skattebo used to watch WWE with his late grandfather, so in high school, teammates began referring to him as “Nature Boy,” an homage to the 16-time world wrestling champion, Ric Flair. He embraced that so much, Skattebo would scream out Flair’s trademark “Woo!” whenever he trucked a defender.
That happened so often, physicality became his calling card. It’s the common thread in his game from the streets of his northern California hometown where he used to put on his other brother’s helmet and shoulder pads and run into telephone poles and prove his toughness, to Sacramento State and then Arizona State, and now the New York Giants, who selected the star running back with the 105th pick of the fourth round in the 2025 NFL Draft.

3. Jaxson Dart, New York Giants Situation: He is the third quarterback on the depth chart behind veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, so it’s hard to imagine that Dart will play much this year. That certainly could change late in the season if coach Brian Daboll believes he’s progressing quickly enough, or especially if the Giants struggle. The GM/coach on their hot seats might want to show their bosses a glimpse of a better future. Either way, it’s all OK for Dart, because the Giants absolutely view him as a franchise quarterback. That’s why they traded back into the first round to get him. They think Daboll will somehow get enough work in with Dart to turn him into their starter by 2026.

25. New York Giants: QB Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss. Pick Grade: Below Average
Opinions on Dart vary, but the Giants traded up to get their guy. His profile matches that of a starting-caliber quarterback, grading above the 89th percentile in five of PFF’s stable metrics, including a 94th percentile mark on early downs. Ole Miss’ offensive issues aside, Dart was the highest-graded passer in the 2025 draft class and showed good downfield accuracy.
Lane Kiffin tells The Post why Jaxson Dart will be a Giants success | New York Post
“He’s gonna invest in people,” Kiffin said. “Not gonna come in and boss people around. He’s gonna invest a lot of time in them. Offensive players, defensive players, everybody.
“They got the best player in the draft”

Adding Thomas Fidone to for tight end depth was more of a quiet need entering the draft for the Giants. New York already has Theo Johnson — a 2024 fourth-rounder who showed some flashes last year — atop the depth chart, along with Daniel Bellinger (in the final year of his rookie deal) and 33-year-old blocking tight end Chris Manhertz playing on a one-year deal. Given his competition, Fidone has a shot to make the team, but it’s far from a guarantee

5. New York Giants. Day 3 pick who could surprise: Marcus Mbow, G, Purdue. Considered a potential top-100 pick, Mbow fell to Round 5, mostly because of positional-fit questions. The Giants will be hoping he can provide depth at both guard and tackle as a rookie and show enough to be considered a long-term option, especially with right guard expected to be a need after the season.

No Compensatory Picks Projected for Giants in 2026 | SI.com
According to Over the Cap, the Giants signed six free agents but only lost one that might have counted in the formula, that being outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari, who signed with the Eagles. Ojulari’s deal might have meant an extra seventh round pick for the Giants, except that was cancelled out by the signing of backup quarterback Jameis Winston.

The Giants on Monday night responded to President Donald Trump’s claim from earlier in the day that he warned them about letting Saquon Barkley leave in free agency last year. Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon told NJ Advance Media “there were no conversations” between the team and Trump about Barkley.
